Has anyone ever had the person they were requesting an autograph from ring them up or even come over and visit?

I've had a few Aussie footballers phone me for a chat. And one afternoon - when I was watching the team I support on TV - there was a knock at the door. I kindly old gentleman asked if I was the person who mailed a football card for him to sign. When I replied in the affirmative, he said he'd travelled 7 hours (700km) to visit a friend of his and he thought he'd sign the card for me in person while he was nearby. I also had a Star Wars author ring me to ask how I got his address. I explained to him that I didn't, but that I mailed the request to his co-author who then forwarded the letter. The author that phoned laughed and said he didn't mind and that he was just wondering, and that "come to think of it, [he] should have recognized [his] friend's hand writing on the envelope!".
