I find it very scary someone would do that

The only thing I suggest is:

1) For future requests DONT send first class/priority send the cheapest way
2) In the letter use your real name but on the envelope use a fake one, or even better say Police Officer: [insert fake name]
then the thief would think twice about stealing photos
3) Don't write do not bend, handle with care, etc as it gives away the fact there is something valuable inside.

Finally if you can use a friend or family member address if possible.

Hope everything works out :)

Guys this is serious - there's a thief working in a Los Angeles branch of the post office.

Sue from collecting-autographs-ttm@googlegroups just reported a loss just like mine. She received:

"an envelope, the flap open and the corner ripped with a postmark from Los Angeles. Nothing inside"

This is EXACTLY the way mine arrived. And there was no way my photos could have just slipped out - the only way to get them out is to tear the envelope - I know having opened my own envelopes often enough. Someone had to tear it to get them out.

If you have suffered a loss like ours - REPORT IT. Call 1-877-876-2455 and file a claim immediately. Hopefully they will take this matter seriously as a result when they see the pattern. There's a thief! A thief in the postal system. One is a tragedy - two is not a coincidence - it's an emerging pattern.

I'm not surprised she and I got hit - we send out more than most - the chances we'd lose one were pretty high. Obviously someone started to recognize our return envelopes, guessed on the value of the contents and ripped us off. I'm guessing hers came from a post office around hollywood.

Mine was sent Priority Mail - hers with stamps - so that explains the delay in receipt - chances are - they came out of the same post office, same day - same lousy thief. If anyone else has lost one and received an empty package - You NEED to file a claim and tell them everything you can about this theft. Postmark. contents. Description of the envelope's condition at the time of receipt. EVERYTHING. Two is the start of a pattern. Together we might get our stuff back.

If you have suffered a similar loss - REPORT IT.

Exactly. I'm 99% sure it was postal theft that occurred at the post office. The package was left inside my door with the flap open. It was a tight fit, so even if the package came open - the contents would not have just come out. Whoever did this - opened it - found it difficult to open - tore the side just enough to get the contents out - grabbed the top loader and the photos, and left behind the letter he sent me and the cardboard backing. If you were going to steal it from my doorway - you'd just take it and leave no trace. This guy - i'm guessing he works for the PO and didn't make the envelope disappear because it had priority mail tracking on it. The package HAD to be delivered.

If someone at the post office did steal it - i hope they get him/her and get those photos back.

If anyone sees anybody trying to sell these photos - contact me. This was a federal crime.

I need everyone's help. I've had a day from hell.

As you some of you already know - I've been creating a Friday The 13th wedding present for my buddy Brian who is serving in the Air Force in Afghanistan. Someone intercepted a package that was coming to me from Vincent Guastaferro, one of the stars of Friday The 13th Part 6. He and his wife Cynthia signed my photos which had already been signed by CJ Graham, Darcy DeMoss, Thom Mathews, David Kagen, Nancy McLoughlin, and Tom McLoughlin. Eight autographs on two identical photos, one dedicated to Brian, one to me. Gone. Vincent apparently included some extras - the thief opened my mail, took my photos, the extras too but not the letter from Vincent. That i have.

These photos were 8.5 x 11 color reproductions of the poster art from the 6th film. If you see anyone trying to sell them - CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY. I have irrefutable proof of my ownership and I want them back. I figure they are no good to anyone as they are - someone may try to sell them as is, or remove the dedications. They were signed in silver sharpie.

You guys know everyone who collects, trades and sells, so maybe something will come up in your travels. So be looking for me okay?

I need them back.

George
