I hope so. I haven't bought any IRC's recently, and probably won't be buying some for a while because I'm almost out of ideas on who to write to next.

It's a bit annoying that prices have to go up, but I guess it happens all the time anyway...

I am the only person that buys them from the post office and the ladies know me quite well......it's not so much the extra dollar that i had to pay over all (4 for 10) but it was the fact that they didnt tell me 3 days ago that the price was about to change.
the only reason why i knew they would be $2.60 was from reading this thread.
on the web site it is still stateing $2.50
That is kind of weird . I haven't bought IRC's since the start of this month. They were $2.50 then, so I don't know if the price has risen since. They still say that they cost $2.50 on the website though :|. I'd assume that as when the stamp prices rose, the prices were changed immediately. I'm assuming the same would have been done with the IRC prices. Maybe since they don't sell too many, they think that not many people will care anyway.

No Commonwealth Games stamps for me. :-( I think it's because my local post office practically never sells $1.80 stamps except to me, so they were given some international 5c instead, so that they can use up all the old ones.

Also you probably know this but card only is now $1.20 I believe.
Well, even now the price of IRC's are still $2.50 on the website. I'm assuming that if the price rise for stamps was changed on the day they rose on the website, the same would have been done with IRC's.

I guess I should ask about the price and buy some more IRC's, but I won't be needing any for a while. If I have a free moment I probably will, but I'm not going to be sending another request for a little while.

Postcards and cards marked "Card Only" are only $1.20 - it rose by 10c as compared to the regular Air Mail letters which rose by 5c. It's not a bad option if you want to send a nice message to who you want (although you probably wouldn't be able to send a SAE along with it.)

I've still got the receipt right here:

16/03/06
Purchased IRC x 10 = $26.00

I think I might email Aust. Post and check about that - its only $1, but still I'd rather that dollar be in my pocket and not theirs!!
:? Perhaps you could go back to the post office you bought the IRC's from and ask and/or complain (don't be too rude if you do so, it won't get you anywhere)? I haven't heard of any IRC price rise, especially since I bought 2 last week for $2.50. The prices for international stamps rose, and these prices were reflected on the website on the day they went up.

...That's unless they've gone up in price since I bought them, but I'm assuming the price would have been changed on the website too...

Good luck!

Yes, when I bought some new $1.85 stamps on the 7th of March they also were the Commonwealth Games ones with the netballer on them. Other post offices could still be selling the regular $1.80 stamps with an extra $0.05 stamp if they don't have them or want to sell out the old ones.

As for the IRC's - $2.60? I bought 2 on the same day I bought the stamps, and they were still $2.50. It still says they cost $2.50 on Australia Post's website (http://www.auspost.com.au/BCP/0,1080,CH ... 19,00.html)

Yeah, that's true in a way, but you have to take into account what other costs the IRC takes into consideration.

E.g. IRC's here cost $2.50. If you were to exchange this in Australia, you would get $1.85 in postage. The extra 65c is for things like the actual piece of paper used to print the IRC, the labour involved by both the person who sold it to you, and the person who's exchanging it for stamps, as well as the cost to transfer the relevant funds to the specific post office who has given you the stamp.

That's why it costs a lot. That's why if you can get stamps for the country you want a reply from, it makes things much cheaper.
