You were and are being a nasty jerk. Nowhere did I say this was a hobby. She was interested in this one autograph and for personal reasons related to my daughter's health, it was important to me to get it for her. Hobbies are long term and that's not likely in this case. So, yes, I am whining because when a sick child sends a heartfelt letter, I think someone should have the decency to reply. Did I do a lot of research on the topic? Nope. I spend my time researching important things like treatment options. But I thought this one thing might buoy her spirits, which is actually a potentially critical component to her health. If it wasn't for your mean spirited and incredibly selfish replies, I wouldn't have gone into precisely why THIS particular autograph and photo was important. Again, I applaud your humanity. At least when I thought you were 12, I could semi-excuse your negative, personal attack on me and my child. Now, I see that there is no excuse for an ignorant fool who lacks compassion or the ability to give constructive input as to how I can find a solution. Happy holidays!
Sorry your daughter has health issues. A lot of people do. But that doesn't give you the right to be an ass yourself, either. And that's the exact way your post came off. & you can't blame Selena on the fact that she never replied to her letter. She most likely never even touches them and probably neither does her management they most likely get tossed otherwise Selena would reply to some or all of them. And to be honest, I'm sure a lot of dealers send Selena sob stories to try to get a signed photo that ends up on the internet and gets sold for hundreds of dollars which is probably why Selena and a lot of other stars do not sign TTM anymore. It's sad, but true. People ruin it for others.
My original comment was true in terms of what occurred. You may not have liked the tone, but it wasn't directed at any individual on this forum. However, people attacking me and my child was, in fact, personal. And, it was uncalled for because I didn't attack anyone.
I truly appreciate your explanation. The information posted on Fanmail.biz (this site) when you search for an address to send Fanmail to Selena Gomez lists addresses, comments from people who supposedly received responses, and does not say anything about the fact that she no longer replies to fans. I knew it wouldn't come directly from her, but I did think the record company would return an autographed photo, based on what I read on the site attached to this forum. The reason I posted to this forum in the manner I did was because it was at this site that we got the information in the first place. So, I thought and still think lodging a complaint here was appropriate since the info here is incorrect apparently and since there's nowhere else to post it.
It is a problem that a few ruin it for everyone and this most certainly isn't the only example of that. To be honest, I couldn't care less about memorabilia and autographs, even when I was a kid. I appreciate that it is a fun hobby for some and a money making scheme for others. But, I have to admit that it is rather disturbing when some of these "stars" can't be bothered having someone answer fans. They make plenty of money to hire people to do that and the reason they make money is because of their fans. Some of these "celebrities" like the reality stars and the teen stars really aren't going to have those fans forever because soon something bigger and better will come around. It's a shame that there's not more of an effort to appreciate the people who make them popular in the first place. Leif Garrett was a little before my time. He was a huge teen heart throb. He was everywhere. He was gone as fast as he arrived. Now, I heard recently his latest job was on Celebrity Rehab or something. I bet in the time in between, he wished he still had those fans from the 70s.
