*typed signed letter(I have really bad hand writing lol)
*SAE
*IRC(usually)
*8x10 photo
*8x10 cardboard to prevent bending

SAE, or SASE*
Photo (If only they say you need to or to a Venue)

*I rarely send SASE's. Unless they won't send without one and then I do :D

I started this topic cos I'm curious at why some of us here got really nice successes while some of us don't :D I guess it's got to do with the content of the letters then. :D

I Send:

*Handwritten Letter
*SAE/SASE/IRC

If I Find A Nice HQ Picture Of Someone: I'll Send 1-2 8x10 Photo's. I Do This With About 60% Of My Requests.

Occasionally, A Piece Of Card To Stop The Photo's Bending.

And If It's A Celebrity's Brithday I Will Send Them A Birthday Card.

In almost all of my requests, I send ...

- Handwritten letter
- SASE / SAE & IRC
- 6x4 photos (2)*
- Small gift (occasionally to some celebrities)**

*I normally only send 6x4 photos because it's cheaper for me to print, send and get back as most of my requests are to the US (and they normally don't get bent in the mail)

**This is normally a small handmade heart which I made myself from ribbon. It can be hung off a key chain / mobile/cell phone etc.

- Card to stop bending (only for large photos)

-Typed letter with my signature in ink at the end (so it doesnt look like a form letter)
-Photo(s)/index card
-cardboard
- Handwritten SASE

On special occasions I write handwritten, like to Nathan Lane or Mel Brooks. :wink:

No I don't...

I'm not aware of letter writing politeness in english speaking countries, I do as we do here. My letters are very polite and friendly, and I feel more friendly if I just end it nicely with my first name. I don't know why, I just think it feels better, and I certainly don't believe they think I'm rude because of this. ;) Why would they?

So you sign your letters with a real signature? :)

I just end it "Best wishes! -my secret last line-" ;) My name is in this last line but only my first name, which I also write in the beginning when presenting myself!
