"Dear band members"... :)

by Debs eleven » Fri Jul 01, 2005 4:40 pm

I don't think its rude to address letters "Dear John" but I just prefer to use "Dear Mr Travolta". I think either way is OK. Maybe if the receipient was a lot younger than me, say like Avril Lavigne, then I would probably write "Dear Avril".

I also agree that "from your No.1 Fan" etc is too corny and its better to just put, for example, "Yours sincerely, Debs Morris"

[agree]
I will third that one!!!!!

I often address letters to the person(s) first name, like "Dear John" rather than Dear Mr Travolta, but that's just a matter of personal choice. I don't think it is rude to do this though!

Cheers,

Ian

What about "Dear Sirs"? Politeness and etiquette often go a long way, if writing to a male actor I always address it:

eg: Mr Tom Hanks, Esq.

Or if they have any Queens honours then its etiquette to include that on the envelope.

Choice is yours, whatever works for you.

All the very best,

Yours Sincerely

when i write to bands, i put all their names down. thats what i did when i wrote to fall out boy. i also explained how much i liked them and how i relate to their music. and don't come straight out asking for an autograph.

hope that helped
