Original
an original work, writing, or the like, as opposed to any copy or imitation.

Authentic
not false or copied; genuine; real

Autopen
a machine that can automatically reproduce or imitate an autograph or personal signature with any type of pen, pencil, or marker.
A mechanical device used for writing imitations of a personal signature.

Real
genuine; not counterfeit, artificial, or imitation; authentic: a real antique; a real diamond; real silk.

Imitation
Something derived or copied from an original

No matter how you look at it PP's and AP'S are nothing more than a copy of an original, authentic, etc.
You can't take a copy of a Picasso and sell it as an original, real, authentic piece of art.

Whatever anyone says, Who really likes the thought that their hard worked letter, read only by someones sec? than to recieve only a photocopy or some ice cold autopen back {down}

Oh dear, if that's it then just write to the fan mail studio, and send them a hugh list of celebs, and they will then warm your heart, by sending you back as many PP's as you can handle.

If on the other hand, if you are saying that, you would prefur authentics, but then think it's rude to throw away anything else, then that's diffront.

Exactly. AP's are used to sign contracts and that kind of stuff. AP's are legally authentic.
I understand what your both trying to say but I wouldn't use authentic or original when describing PP's and AP's. There just copies of such.

Original
an original work, writing, or the like, as opposed to any copy or imitation.

Authentic
not false or copied; genuine; real
A PP and Autopen signature are authentic, not original. A PP and Autopen are "genuine" and "real" because they were once signed by the actual person. Saying a PP or autopen is not authentic is like saying that a photocopy of a document is not authentic because it's not the original one.

This is the 2nd time I've seen this posted on this site regarding an autopen signature as being legally and binding. I contacted a Notary Public I know and gave her a scenario that I would be out of town, I'm purchasing a house and my wife will be bringing in my autopen machine to sign the closing papers for me, she laughed and said no way she could not notarize that and make it legal and binding. I also have a call in to my attorney which I'm sure I will hear from in the next couple days laughing as well. Didn't the prosecutor for ENRON argue this point? I also remember about a year after Clinton was out of office in an interview stated that all correspondences he signed by why of autopen as not to be liable in any way.
