Sorry to bump an old post, but the Australian postal prices have increased from the 15th of September.

I have updated the prices here <<arrow$

Domestic letters have increased to $0.55 (from $0.50) and international letters have also increased to $2.05 (from $2.00).

More information can be found on the Australia Post website.

That's not great news, but I understand the reasons behind them wanting to increase the domestic postage rates.

Luckily it's only a proposed increase at the moment, we will have to keep an eye out for any news.

Australia Post has applied to lift the price of stamps from 50 to 55 cents, citing rising fuel costs and wages.

A spokesman said Australia Post loses about $12 million a year on domestic mail and the price rise would be the first in more than five years.

"The impact on most consumers will be minimal," said Allan Robinson.

"The task has got bigger, the costs have increased, but growth in the letters area has only been modest. Even with the proposed 55 cent stamp rate, Australians will have access to one of the most affordable and reliable letter services in the world. It is, and still will be, the third lowest basic postage rate in the OECD."

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will consult with the public before ruling on the request.
