yes, some celebs are rich, and dont mind paying the thousands of pounds (c ronaldo says he spends 2000 pounds), but just because they are rich doesnt mean we dont respect them, and because they are rich, they are very busy people, maybe its not money they sacrifice for their fanmail, but their valubale time.

If a celeb's going to use some of their time and money on making sure there are autographed pictures kindly available for fans, the least we can do is write a letter and pay the small bit of postage required to get it.[/color]

Celebritys are thilthy rich. And they wouldnt be if it wasnt for there fans. I dout it if they mind spending a dollar on postage and etc.

Again, I believe it is more respectful and logical to send a snailmail to the celebrity, if you are expecting a snailmail reply, (i.e. a photo sent back, or our photo signed). However, if you are only expecting an email reply, with a pp autograph sent to you for you to print out, then I believe it is totally fine. As for the money thing, do you not think it costs the celebrity to send out their fanmail, they have to pay for the photos, the markers, then envolopes and the postage, and lots of their valueble time. I believe the least we could do is to send them a handwritten letter, to show our respect. So i assume, you won't mind to recive a pp photo for you to print out for those you sent an email request to, margotchanning?

There is also a big difference between not having the funds to pay postage and not minding having to pay postage. You can be a huge fan of someone but not be able to afford to buy stamps to send a letter and sase to them. You can't measure someone's admiration of someone in monetery terms! That's just silly.
Also, there are many reasons why someone would type a letter and not handwrite it. Anything from a medical condition like Arthritis to just plain awful handwriting. It's the content that makes a letter special, not the hand that writes it.
Like you, I handwrite all my letters but I don't condemn those who do things differently. There is no right and wrong way to do things. Don't be so quick to jump on people who don't follow your example.

I still don't understand why you think that someone who sends an email is not a "real fan". I know some people who also type their snailmail letters. Does that mean that they're not entitled to a handwritten signature because they don't handwrite their requests? 99.9% of the requests I send out are handwritten snailmail requests but I don't consider myself superior to those who type letters or send emails. As long as a letter is sincere, I don't think it matters whether you handwrite it, type it or email it {thumb2}

It's unfair to exclude them from the hobby because they can't afford a lot of stamps. If a celebrity doesn't want to sign via email, they usually email back requesting you to send an sase. A lot of celebrities are happy to send autographs from an email request.
