As far as I know, postage here in the US went up only 1c on May 1st, and they won't even think about pushing it up again until next May.

Also, I think that any thing that you sent out before the change won't make a difference. Especially if you put your name in both spots - what're they gonna do, just hold on to the mail that's a cent too little?

In short, I'm positive you'll get your mail back, sent out pre-change

I believe postage is going up 2 cents in May. And if you used a Forever stamp you should be fine, but if you used a 41 cent stamp then it should get back to you but your mailman will have you pay the extra 2 cents.

I was wondering about this too. But as previously stated, if you have the WHITE LIBERTY BELL STAMP they are good "forever," as they are called the "Forever Stamp." No matter how high the postage goes, they will be worth as much as that.

And if you have the other American Flag stamp or something similar that says "41c\" on it...if you have two stamps on something sending back like a picture the post office wouldn't care becuase you practilly are over-spending the stamp in most cases. If you have one they might do something, but I honestly doubt it for the first couple of months. Now if it's someone who won't get back to you for a year ontime, I think those would be the only ones when problems might arise from that.

And I believe the postage officially goes up May 11 or May 12 for reference. And here in the U.S. it's still a steal that our postage is that low. Well domestic anyway, international to Europe is going to 95c I believe!

Well the good thing is that if you're in the US and you used forever stamps it shouldn't change anything for you. Because they're just worth the new amount. Beyond that I'm not sure.

Hello Romana & bobrifleman! ;-)

Depending on how big the increase is, you'll probably get it back safely if it's just a few cents! {thumb2} Here in South Africa, the price has gone up with 30 SA cents! That's a huge increase, the biggest yet! I've heard that in the USA, if you're like, 20 cents short, the postman will deliver it to you but then you have to pay for the amount you're short. :?

That's why I put, just for incase, around 5 - 10 cents extra on my SASE's to the USA. {thumb2} I only have 41c stamps so actually I do not have much of a choice! But better safe than sorry!

Also, if it's via a celeb's agency, they'll probably add the amount you're short - I've received an autograph from Ian McKellen and he added as much as 60p extra postage on my SASE! That was super kind of him (or his agent!).

So don't worry too much about the postage increase, as long as you have your address on the envelope, you'll receive it back either way! {thumb2} Believe me, I sent to Daniel Craig and the agent didn't add extra postage, so around 4 months later I got back my autograph with a sticker on the back saying because the sender didn't add enough postage, they had to move it to an alternative service... ;-)

Good luck!!
Lizanne

Honestly, I'm wondering the same thing....I think some celebs might add a postage on your SASE, but I doubt all of them would do this. How big is the increase of the postage prizes? A few cents, am I right? They could add the postage on your SASE, these few cents wouldn't ruin them.... :D

Stamp change

As you may or not know, the stamp prices are to change some time in may. I was wondering what will happen when i get autographs back that i sent before i knew about the stamp change. They will still have the 41 cent stamp on my SASE. Will i get the autographs back or will i be fined or what? Thanks

p.s. i put my address on the main part of the envelope and the return address
