Hi,

Thanks for the help. I just wanted to see what other reaction was to fan clubs and I was rather thinking the same thing - they would open themselves up to lots of trouble should it ever be proved that fake autographs were sent out. I haven't bought many autographs through official fan clubs. So far I have Robert Englund (fantastic auto in my opinion) and Richard Kiel.

Anyways, thanks for your help on this question. Much appreciated.

(Sorry for the confusion about the user name - I had problems when registering which is why I tried with a different user name and address but eventually the original problem was sorted so I go by the name of autorob.)

Rob

Hi Rob,

Welcome to fanmail. I think most fan clubs that are actually associated with the celebrity are a safe bet when purchasing autographs from them. For example some celebrities sell autographs through there own official website, you can be sure that they are going to be authentic, if they weren't authentic they would leave themselves open for lawsuits. I would stay away from unofficial fan clubs though.
Hope this answers your question.

Autographs From Fan Clubs

Hi all. I'm new to this board and I had a question about fan clubs. Is it a good idea to purchase photos from fan clubs as you hear stories about them sending pre-prints/secretarial out.

Admittedly I've bought a few at very low cost as a starting point for this type of activity - normally I buy autographs from UACC registered dealers even though this isn't always foolproof.

Just wanted to know if buying from official fan clubs was reliable because looking at the photos I have at the moment, there are small concerns about authenticity on some of the photos I received.

I've also decided to try and attend conventions as regularly as possible as it will mean getting autographs in-person without worrying about authenticity. Problem is, I have to use dealers sometimes (no disrespect intended) as its harder to get some personalities who don't attend the shows/conventions.

Thanks for the help,
Rob
