Denisrichard wrote:I personally dont really care if an autograph is inscribed or not, and i have a personal collection of a few thousand autographs. I understand the position that some collectors take where if your name is Joe you dont want an autograph inscribed to Harry, for example. But i think and feel that part of the reason we collect autographs is to have the handwriting of a celeb, be it on a photo, letter, card , or document. So wouldnt it stand to reason that the more writing on the item the more attractive it is? Just my opinion!!!
Some people on here really don't know anything about autograph collecting. The supply and demand are the fact that nothing personalized sells for even close to the value that a non-personalized photo will sell for. Those that are collecting hoping to one day pass their photos along to their children need to know they won't be able to sell them to pay for their kids university if they are personalized. I have yet to see a single personalized Babe Ruth ever sell for even more then 10% of its real value if it wasn't personalized. The real autograph collectors who none of them are on this board don't want anything to do with a personalized autograph photo.

It's autograph COLLECTING not autograph DEALING for a lot of people on here. Hence why people who collect autographs do not care if they are personalized or not. If someone is collecting autographs for profit - then wouldn't it be called autograph dealing, not necessarily autograph collecting? Whether it's personalized to them or someone else (I would never really want a signed photo personalized to someone else, unless they were very hard to get and I really was a big fan) all of the autographs that are personalized to me, I am greatful that they are. Especially the ones that I have framed & hanging from my wall. I am a huge fan of the people and WANT them personalized. Just because I may pass down my collection to my children in the future, if I ever have any doesn't mean I want them to be sold for a lot of money, or want the money to be used for my kids uni fund?!

Some people collect autographs to KEEP not to sell - or the intent to sell them in the future. No one is doubting the fact that some photos will be less in value if they are personalized, but what we are saying is we DON'T CARE whether or not they are personalized or not. :D

You saying "The real autograph collectors who none of them are on this board don't want anything to do with a personalized autograph photo." is absolutely WRONG. The real collectors are not about profit. That's what ruins the hobby for all of the others. And which is why many celebrities will not sign. It's sad.
