Autopen & Secretarial

Unread post by andz »

I'm really curious about this autopen and secretarial thing. I've heard that a lot of celebrities are using such gadget and way to reproduce their exact same signatures on photos. I'm wondering, though, if it's an autopen or a secretarial autograph is it still valuable/authentic? I just want to know, because I'm new to this autograph-collecting hobby. Sending a fanmail is quite costly, really, and if we're paying postage for some autopenned photo, then it's like wasting money.

I can't really speak to the value of any autograph, but off-hand, I would say that auto-pens and secretarials really don't have much value at all. If anything, it makes their authentic signature all that more valuable since it is likely more rare.

This doesn't mean that the auto-pen photographs of a very famous or reclusive star cannot fetch some money, but I tend to think their worth is limited to the intangible value a fan gets from receiving something from their favorite celebrity.

Secretarials and autopen are worth as much as the paper you used to print your pictures. This pictures and only worth something to beginner collectors who like to fool themselves thinking they got something from the celebrity.

Now, as I said they may be only be worth to beginners so they could have some value in the 3 to 5 dollars each is someone is willing, but unless you tell them upfront that you are selling them a fake you would be commiting fraud by selling a fake. There are plenty of people on this forum who would die to get a preprint for their collection, why? it beats me. Shipping handling, time to write a letter is a lot more expensive than just getting a picture signed from the internet and printing it in your own computer, it is as fake as the one you would get.

Do your research and avoid wasting your time sending out to this celebrities.
Most of my autographs are here, I still need to scan some http://community.webshots.com/user/fsus ... =community

I am open to trade or sell some of them. If Interested check this link.
