Purchased Lost cast photo ... maybe fake?

Unread post by sgaisserindiego »

Hello, my name is Shannon, first post. I recently purchased a Lost cast autographed plaque from the Art Of Music here in Las Vegas, it cost about $750, and it took about two months for them to get it. Now, I'm not an expert and this was the first autographed anything that I had purchased/acquired, but I've compared all of the signatures to ones online and most of them look genuine. The loops are in the right place, and squiqqlies and just right, the T's and J's and blah blah blah all look right. Some actors have the straight lines while others are sloppy. BUT there are two little problems and one main problem that has me thinking this is some how fake and that I got ripped off. We'll start with the little problems:

1. All the signatures are in the same color ink. Blue sharpie. Now, I can picture this being signed at some kind of event, they're all at one table, and the promoters or whoever open up a box of sharpies and give one to each of them. It's possible ... but ... it just seems a little funny. And SECONDLY:

2. The Certificate of Authenticity and plaque with all the names of the people that signed it is wrong. The COA and plaque both leave out one of the signatures. Little problem? Maybe. Onto the main problem:

3. Evangeline Lilly's signature. I have searched hundreds and hundreds of examples online, pretty much every single example that's out there ... And her signature never wavers. She always signs it "Elilly". And on MINE, it's signed "Evangeline Lilly", two seperate words. And it's REALLY bugging me. If I can just find ONE example of a different signature, I think my mind might be at ease ... But anyway, here's all the pics I can find, please someone let me know what they think. Thank you. :)

Shannon

Sorry to say Art of Music in Vegas mainly sells fakes. I think with the LOST piece that you bought some of the signatures are MAYBE real BUT in order to sell it as a complete cast that person "filled" in the photo with the missing names. The Evageline for example is 100% fake. She has never, ever signed a full signature. In fact when the LOST cast did one of their first apperances promoting the show, ( ABC event promoting the new fall season at Disney's California Adventure ), Evageline signed her name Elilly with a drawing of a flower. Since this event, everytime I get Evageline, though she stopped drawing a flower, she has never wavered from this signature. With the show's finale this Sunday there are going to be a lot of fakes out there so before you make another purchase try to get someone else's opinion on its authenticity.
If I were you I would return the photo and get your money back.

I have to agree. This doesn't look authentic to me either. Most of the signatures actually look like they could have been written by the same person, which in the case of forgeries isn't much of a stretch. None of the autographs on this picture match authentic examples in my opinion.
