Where did you get it, and how much did you pay for it?

Image
a) authentic autographs of Marilyn Monroe
b) very common secretary example No 1
c) secretary pattern No 2

My eyes are telling me that what you have is a bad forgery.

Monroe is in that category of being a very popular signature to forge. I agree with Will Bozarth that you have a very bad forgery.

Oi, fantastic... Not only a fake, but a very bad fake. I would have never thought that! Are you absolutely sure it's a fake? If so I'll try to get a refund!
Well, okay it's alright, it came with a so called "lifetime moneyback guarantee" bla bla, so I think I'll just return it and claim my money back!
But still, I would have not recognised it as a fake! Obviously  I'm not an expert, but I think it DOES look like the originals in your chart! Especially the "M" in "Marilyn"! Furthermore the paper looks quite old. It's a little yellowish and the ink looks a bit faded...And you can't fake this effect, right? Maybe you can't see it so clearly on the photo?
What exactly tells you that it's a fake? Please tell me so I maybe I'll have more luck with my next buy! I'm definitely going to buy another Marilyn autograph, because I really want her in my collection!

hey,
it could be real, it could be a fake.
dont always go by what people say on this fourm, if you want to make sure take it somewhere to be authenticated, if its a fake then im sure you can get your money back from ebay if you report the seller, that is if the seller said it was 100% real

That sort of effect can't be faked per se, but someone can just use old paper and forge an autograph on that.

If the autograph experts don't mind, maybe you can PM them and check before getting a refund?

It just looks too legible and neat to me for it to be authentic. I could be wrong, of course.

Taking it somewhere to be authenticated means absolutely nothing. So called "experts" at places like PSA/DNA and JSA are wrong as often as you or I. The best you can do is do your own research. In my opinion you have a very bad fake. It is estimated that half or more of her signatures are fake that are in the market.

If you would like to learn more about the waste of money when you have your items "authenticated" by "experts" please read some horrer stories on this website: http://www.autographalert.com

An example of an autograph called authentic by companies such as PSA and JSA include a Bo Jackson autobiography which comes with his signature pre-printed inside of every book, exactly the same, in the exact same spot. Those companies are out to make money, remember that.

The best you can do is make sure any item you buy comes with a lifetime guarantee and do a lot of research ahead of time.
