Some people on here should STOP telling people their autographs are fakes.

This is the story. A few months back, a friend of mine bought an autograph from another one of my friends. The guy she bought it from moved abroad and she told me it always bugged her not knowing 100% if her autograph was real as she didn't really know my friend. I told her not to worry, i have known him for years and he would not lie.

A few weeks back she called me up and said it's a fake and when i talk to my friend i should tell him what a jerk he is. She had posted the photo on here and been told it is fake and a bad one at that.

So i thought ok i will put some photos on here myself viewtopic.php?f=146&t=259147

I got comments such as "I know RDJ is definitely fake" (Robert Downey Jr) and "They all look bad!"
Some others did say "The Zach Braff one I think is real. I have one from when I met him in person and I'd say it is real."
and "Depp matches my in person".

There were comments which i thought were fair "Depp looks nothing like my in person." the person doesn't say it is definitely fake, they just say it does not look like theirs.

So i showed the comments calling it fake and saying they all look bad to my friend. Because they were all real, all obtained by myself in person at premiers, outside theaters or signings.

I do love these forums but maybe we should not be telling people that their autographs are definitely fakes. I dread to think how many people took their autographs off the wall and threw them in a draw thinking it was fake.

Unless of course it is like the Jennifer aniston one that got recently put up, which was a PP and there were dozens of photos online of the same photo with the same autograph on the exact same spot.

With out any proof... minus the friend that lives in a far away land who says he got them IP.

All we have to go by are the pics that are posted and compare them to what we know.


If you don't like hearing peoples opinions, then don't post your pics.

Especially if you are posting them in "Are my autographs real?" Thread... where you know people are going to comment on their authenticity.

Not that I think this thread is about me (since I am not the only one who says the truth) HOWEVER I only say it's fake if it's a sec like ROBIN, JOHN, and people like that. Also with people who send AP's. And last but not least, when members think that Jennifer Aniston is real when I provided EXACT proof if it being fake. Maybe this thread title should be SWITCHED to "Some people on here should stop being delusional and accept the truth..." because 99% of the time I am correct on what ever I say. And people think IDK what the H*ell I am talking about and I do...I Think that if members on here would accept the truth more I wouldn't be SO UP FRONT about it. But it's like why try to kiss their a**es about it if they will be rude to me for no reason...?

FOR EXAMPLE: I just got a MINDLESS BEHAVIOR signed group shot VV today..and since people don't really know what their sigs look like (being that they don't sign often), I wouldn't expect ANYONE to say "it's fake" until they do research. http://fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=259993 And I accept any kind of comments.

I posted and was told it was fake (which i didnt belive at first) and dancingirl (who posted above) offered me a Miley PP for free which was super nice and i couldnt be Happier with the PP

See and that is the thing...When I told Emma her Miley was fake, she didn't freak out on me, she appreciated that I told her the truth. She is making the best outta this situation. IDK why others can't react this way. But IDK.

Your missing my point, i have no problem with other peoples opinions. I would not of joined a forum where thats the whole point if i did.

My point is maybe we should be careful when saying something is "definitely fake" .... when it was not. Actualy my IP of Robert Downey Jr can be seen on various youtube videos of the premier where you see him signing for me as i was one of the first people next to the media stand.

What dancingirl1 does, in my opinion is the best way to go about it. If something is clearly a PP and theres proof, like the Jen Aniston one where there were various photos of the same autograph online (i actually got the same one free) then you can show what you are saying is correct. But, when someone tells someone they are 100% sure something is fake when it is not then thats wrong. prettykittyjenna for example did not say the Johnny Depp one i put up was fake, she just said it did not look like her IP. She got a IP and i got a IP from him and both our autographs apparently look nothing alike.

Im glad people did not take this topic the wrong way, i do not mean to cause offence. Just a reminder to be a bit more cautious when claiming something is fake, when there is no proof it is a PP or Secretarial or if it's a ebay source that seems dodgy. Like the many that seem to have popped up recently, where the photo of the celeb signing the photo is actually different from the photo sold.

I'm somewhat fairly new to this site, but have been collecting since 2004. It kills me to see certain board members on here instantly tell newcomers that their autographs are fake. I know there may be some of us on here that are hardcore collectors that want nothing to do with a pre-print, autopen, secretarial, anything not authentically signed. But with casual collectors, the fact they received something is amazing to them. Besides, what's the fun in automatically knowing whether it's their "legit" signature or not. I know when I first started, I thought every single autograph I received was real. As I got more mature in collecting, I began to identify them better on my own.

And another thing, when people come back with "it doesn't look like their in-person signature" can be totally wrong. When a celebrity is hounded by a lot of people, they're clearly not going to take the time to spell out their name like they would on a picture. It's scribble, and go.

I say if you're going to respond to someone, make sure you check out their information if it's posted next to their name/avatar area. I saw someone today say they got their first autograph and the first post was "Do you want to know the good news, or bad news about his autograph?" It's like, it's his first autograph, congratulate him! It's great that someone is new to our awesome hobby!

I just would like the people of this site to remember that we are a community and we need to be a little more thoughtful of others. Luckily, this seems to be a smaller community so it should be way easier to be thoughtful.
