Willie Davis Packers DE HOF Success?

Unread post by bickel84 »

On 3/12/14 I sent a card to former Packers DE and HOF member Willie Davis. I didn't know to send a donation so I received back a price list and my card back unsigned today. Although I'm hesitant to call this a "success" it appears that he signed the price list though. I don't think it's a preprint due to the ink bubbles on the "D"s. Also, the ink tends to trail off on the ends of the letters. The signature also matches very closely to other signatures of his that I looked up. The only difference is that it appears he generally doesn't sign his middle initial. Any thoughts? Either way I think I'm going to resend with the donation.

Looks like authentic pen signature but hard for me to tell exactly without seeing it in-person. You should check out some sports autograph sites to see if there's similar price lists. Something is bound to come up soon with him sending the price list back now.

Willie has always been a great free signer in the past but always personalized (I love that) most likely to avoid re-sale. When I specifically asked for it to my name (via post-it) I received lovely detailed inscription photos.

Personally, I wish a number of the tougher football signers would just go with a set price list ttm over not signing. With Willie, he's definitely the money but I wouldn't be surprised if he one day goes back to free signing.

Great, thanks for your input. I checked around for some similar price lists but haven’t found anything yet. I’m going to keep my eye out and hopefully one will pop up soon so I can compare. From what I’ve been seeing it looks like he just recently started charging. It’s for charity though so I can’t really complain.
Da Bears!
