Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman born in 1941 is the real life inspiration behind the character Gidget (spawned multiple films the most famous starring Sandra Dee in 1959 and a television series in the 1960s starring Sally Field) from the 1957 novel, Gidget: The Little Girl with Big Ideas by her father Frederick Kohner. Now in her 70s she continues to surf today for charity.
