Dexter

Unread post by PatImielinski »

Hello, I'm new here.

Recently I've decided I would like to try to send Letter Of Request to the stars from my favourite TV series "Dexter" - Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter.

But I have so many questions. I would be really grateful if you could answer them.

1. OK, so I decided to use Via Venue address:

"Dexter"
Sunset-Gower Studios
1438 N. Gower St.
Hollywood, CA 90028-8306
USA

Looks like it's still valid and they'll be filming next season of the show in 2013 so I think it's a good idea.

2. Should I send normal, usual mail or registered mail if sending via venue? Dunno if registered mail is good for this purpose.

3. I read this:
If the venue is a short run, you should aim to get your letter there no earlier than 3 or 4 days before the celeb is due to arrive otherwise you may well end up with a return to sender. Always ensure you write "Please hold until (date of concert)" when writing to a band/artist at a venue so staff know to hold your letter until the date of the concert.
And here's the question: I dunno when Jennifer or Michael will be there. I'm going to send letters in max. two weeks, is it OK? Should I write on envelopes something like this:
TO STAFF: PLEASE KEEP UNTIL MICHAEL'S/JENNIFER'S ARRIVAL

4. I have some larger photos (approx. size in inches: 6 x 8 1/4). Self-addressed envelope's size is (~ 6 1/3 x 9). I can only put everything in envelope (~ 9 x 12 3/4). Isn't it too large?

That's all I remember for now. Answer please.

OK, I'll ask one more time and REALLY PLEASE for answer.

I don't know when Jennifer or Michael will be there. I'm sending letters in approx. 7 - 10 days, is it OK? What should I do not to end up with "Return to sender"? Should I write on envelopes something like this:
TO STAFF: PLEASE KEEP UNTIL MICHAEL'S/JENNIFER'S ARRIVAL

2. What type of mail should I send: normal or registered? Is registered mail good for this purpose? I mean, are staff authorized to receive the letter if actual receiver is not around?

3. I have photos in A5 size. Self-addressed envelope's size is a little larger. I have to put everything (photos, letter, IRCs) in A4 envelope. Isn't it too large?

Here is the size illustration for envelopes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:C_siz ... ation2.svg

I never sent any requests by registered mail. I just sent reg mail to the dex venue when I heard they were filming, which was different each season,

season 8 is going to premier early so I guess they will start filming pretty soon if they have not already.

I never got any of the requests RTS so I think they are good at forwarding the mail to the stars. Michael and Jen are good signers tho Jen took quite a bit longer to get back.

Hey zebrafinch, thank you very much! :) I thought nobody's going to answer. I'm quite lucky because I was supposed to send letters last week and I don't know what would I do if I didn't know that registered mail is a bad decision. Thanks for making it clear for me, I'm sending probably tomorrow and I hope everything will be fine. It's good to hear that Micheal and Jennifer are so nice to their fans. :)
