If you meet him in-person at book signings- he will sign any of his books that he's written for free. He will not sign photos or any other type of memorabilia at the book signings. He does SELL signed photos on his website for $350 (last time I checked). If you HAVE TO have a signed photo- your best bet is his website- or try www.astronautcentral.com they are a very reputable dealer. From my personal experience- most Apollo astronauts do not respond TTM- especially don't sign for free. The only success I've had is Alan Bean who signed a photo for me (the $100 check helped too). Of all the moon walkers- Ed Mitchell is the most reasonable at only charging $55 for a signed photo on his website. If you need more help- don't hesitate to ask- I have managed to collect 7 of the 12 moon walkers autographs so far.

Wow. That sounds like a nice collection. Whose autographs do you have? Why won't they sign for free?

Why won't they sign for free? Because they know people will pay for their autographs. You have to remember these men were just normal Air Force and NASA employees- they are by no means rich or multi-millionaires. Just because you went to the moon doesn't mean the government gave you a lot of money. Buzz Aldrin talks about that in his book how he, along with Armstrong, were the first men to land on the moon and once he got back yes, he was a famous celebrity- but that doesn't mean he got money for being "famous". It wasn't like it is now where news agencies pay thousands of dollars for an interview. Once he left NASA he didn't have a job and his money problems were tough at times. Of course these men are gonna profit from their "celebrity status" and make a few bucks off of it. Since the beginning of man kind we have had billions of humans walk on this planet- only 12 of those can claim they walked on the moon.
Here are the ones I have collected so far. The five that I am missing are way to expensive for me. Neil Armstrong's autograph is over $1,000!
Apollo 11 - Buzz Aldrin
Apollo 12 - Alan Bean
Apollo 14 - Edgar Mitchell
Apollo 15 - David Scott & James Irwin
Apollo 16 - Charles Duke
Apollo 17 - Eugene Cernan
