It doesn't mean it's a failure, if you didn't receive anything back yet. Maybe you should be a little more patient. ;)

I don't believe Paul McCartney replies to fan mail anymore. I've seen someone get lucky with a VV address, but that's it

VV stands for via venue. That is the address where a musician is playing a concert or an actor/actress is filming a movie.
