I was thinking about sending fan mail to some of the cast of Glee and wondering what
the average return time would be around the Christmas period?
What does everyone think?

I think it's good to. A lot of people are home for the holidays and go through fan mail then.

It's possible they have extra time off, depends. I would send mail as usual and any good or bad surprises are part of the fun.
