I sent a SASE with cardboard envelope and folded picture to the following address:
Robert Duvall
P.O. Box 520
The Plains, VA 20198-0520
USA
Around the middle of January. I had read about the quick response times, but have not received anything as of the time of this writing (December 1, 2013).

How is this a failure? Sometimes it takes quite some time for people to respond to their fanmail.

Duvall takes about a year.
Patience is a virtue in this hobby, and you will do well to figure that out quicker than later.
I mailed Duvall last year and received it this year. He's great with fan mail, which also means he receives a lot of it.

I apologize for my lack of patience; I was unaware it took up to a year. When I had originally submitted my materials, I thought I had read it would 3-6 months. I feel a lot better knowing that it takes up to a year. Lately, I've been dealing with stress in my personal life, and the stress ended up carrying into other spheres (such as this.)

Be patient - I sent mine to same address in May of 2012 and got them back signed in March 2013.

A long wait indicates that the signatures are really his and not from a secretary, using the quick secretarial responses from Dick Van Dyke as an example, and I'm sure Van Dyke must get more mail than Robert Duvall.
