Re: MMA Collectors

I attended UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs Sonnen last year in Boston and graphed at the hotel. I thought I'd just throw in my experience with Mr. Hall as well. He was definitely not as fan friendly as the other fighters and always seemed to be in a rush. He gave a sloppy signature that seems to have gotten even sloppier over time. At one point he was signing for fans next to Forrest Griffin and Forrest even leaned over and said something like "Wow man I thought I had a sloppy signature. At least I write my first name. What does that even say?" Hall just kind of chuckled, signed a few more and left.

My second interaction with him was getting him to sign a photo. He gave me the sloppy signature and turned to a fan who had accumulated autographs on his UFC Encyclopedia. Hall looks at him and says "Who can I make this out to?" The guy answers that it isn't for anyone specific. (To Uriah's credit this guy and his friends were the kind of graphers who ruin it for everyone else- i.e. running through the hotel lobby, having fighters sign everything in sight ten times a day and using their children to get more autographs) but anyway Uriah looks at the guy and asks again "Who do I make this out to." The guy doesn't answer so Uriah just said "Look man, if I find this on eBay I will find you." Then he just kind of laughs and tells the guy he was just kidding. So my guess is that he just thinks a lot of the autographs he signs will go on eBay and that's where his negativity towards the graphers come from.

With that being said I do think he definitely could have been more fan friendly and good to those of us who clearly were not sellers. Hopefully he realizes that the fans are the people who are responsible for his paycheck.

Uriah sat in front of me at Hendo/Thomson. I had a huge collage picture that I had everyone sign. It was nearly full and I said, Mr. Hall, would you mind signing my picture. He gave me literally the worst glare possible. I almost took it back and said nevermind. So he signs it and doesn't even turn around. He put my marker over his shoulder without looking back and then did the same with the picture.

He literally went out of his way to be rude.

Congrats to David, just 4 more to go. This is going to sound weird, but I had a dream that I ran into Brad Blackburn, but I could not remember his name in my dream so I was too scared to go ask him for an autograph. It's weird how stuff we think about ends up in our dreams.

I'll be uploading some pictures later today. I got some real nice stuff lately thanks to the many cool guys I've met through this hobby.

Thx BJ!
Yeah bud, I've had autograph dreams where I didn't have an item for someone to sign & its been all weird.
One time in a dream I had Brewers/MLB HOF Robin Yount sign a BABY SHOE! HAHAHA
Graphing dreams are so queer!
