that is because no where else in the world you get competition like the NBA,MLB, or NHL. So thats why they say "world champions"

^^I agree with him^^ {up}

The NFL hasnt used the term "World champions" since the late 60's and the start of the Superbowl. They are now refered to as "Superbowl champions" {up}

Plus, It makes sense that the MLB, NBA, NHL are called World Champions, because the they are all made up of players from around the world, especially the MLB {thumb2}

Major representatives in eac other the following sports:

NHL: Canada, Russia, USA, former Soviet republics.
NBA: USA, China, former Soviet republics, Spain, Argentina
MLB: USA, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Japan

Actually they do call the NFL world champions sometimes. Gino Cappeleti the broadcaster for the Patriots always calls them the World Champions. Oh and I have a 2004 World Champion Super Bowl Winners The Patriots Sweater.

My Philadelphia Phillies are the World Champions of baseball. Sorry, I never get tired of saying that! {thumb2}

Or as Chase Utley told the crowd "World F*cking Champions".
