The 4 time all star will play for Oakland this year. I'm not sure how this will work out but I'm hoping for the best. But my question is he did miss all of last year and did the A's over pay him. He's getting paid 10 million for one year.

I think they probably overpaid for him, but only because he tends to put together half seasons instead of full seasons. If he has a good full season then it will have been a steal, but he tends to disappear in the second half of the year. Either way he's a great pitcher when healthy and will do good for the A's. smart move, they did have to pay too much though imo

The ever-classic case of high risk, high reward. Such a pointless move though.. I can understand if a contender or would-be contender signs Sheets to that type of deal to round out their pitching staff, but I don't see why Oakland should waste $10 million for a year they won't be contending.

The price that they signed him was a shocker. The A's are notorius to getting players at a bargain and very seldom over paying. He's always been plagued with injuries and rarely pitches a whole season. When he's on he's as good as almost any pitcher in baseball. Guess they need a guy like that to compete with the Angels and Mariners.

One of the main reason I think they got him was for his experience as a veteran. Besides Justin Duchscher our pitching staff is pretty young.
