Writing a Sports Player / Detroit Players

I've just started the autograph collecting hobby and I want to write some of my faovrite players. I know about SASE, but do you send anything for them to sign or do they have photos available? Also, just for my own knowledge, any info on any of Detroit's players (whether their good signers or not) would be appreciated.
