Odd via venue question

I've never sent via venue before and was hoping for your thoughts on this:
I plan to write to each of the cast members of Criminal Minds. Can anyone advise whether it would be better to do so via venue, or via their agents?
If I do go via venue, how can I find out when the next season (season 6? It hasn't been shown in the UK yet, but I think it's showing on US screens in September) is being filmed / when filming stops?
