This would've been worth it of Leo were there.

He was busy filming Django Unchained in Louisiana. Believe me, if he had a break in his schedule, he would've been there. It was the film that put him on the map. I think he said in a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone, the money he made on Titanic was more than enough for him to retire on. It gave him the freedom to cherry-pick his own roles from then on.

I think it was worth it, especially since Winslet and Cameron were there. Winslet was the anchor of that film, even though Leo's character had a big role in it. And she is still beautiful... not as ravishing as she was back in the 1990s, but she's holding up pretty well.

Leo made 2.5 mil on Titanic, considering his lifestyle, not nearly enough to live the rest of his life on. He's also been cherry picking his roles since the start of his movie career. Can't believe he almost passed on the role of Jack Dawson.

I'm pretty sure both Winslet and DiCaprio got huge residual payments, on top of what they were paid, after the movie became a huge success. He got a lot more than $2.5M once everything was said and done.
