Rowan Atkinson my best yet - still a very strong signer
For some reason they wasnt a dealer in sight this evening at the Stage Door, what a relief to have no pushing, shoving or rudeness. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere. I think I was the only one there who hadnt seen the show that night which made me feel a little guilty.
Rowan came out at 10.40 pm (a little earlier than before) and signed for everyone. He kindly signed 2 photos for me no problem and could have easily got one more if I had any pics left. He acknowledged me and said "thanks for coming back". I truly think he can tell the difference between the dealers and fans like myself. This is my best success yet as they autos are on real photos rather than sleeves etc. I am very happy that he signed them. I would be happy if he ever signed for me again now.
I wouldnt worry about him stopping signing. A lot of it is rumours and hype. He would be sneaking out the front if there was a real issue. It is best to get him after a show though than before.
Enjoy!

ps I wanted to add I found out that Julian Glover is in "Oliver" (i recognised him but couldnt put my finger on it until night - he played the villain in 'Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade'(the ones who meets a grissly demise at the end when he drinks from the wrong cup) I am going to get his auto next time Im up there.

How many times have you met him now? Does this make you any better than Shaun, going to get the same celeb again and again.
Re: Rowan Atkinson my best yet - still a very strong signer
I got Julian on my first trip up. He signed a DVD sleeve and index card for me.

I have been a few times but
1. I do not sell mine
2. I treat the celbs with respect, I would back off if they told me to
3. It doesnt make me bad doing this, if you were this close to him im sure you would be getting him alot
4. I wouldnt have to jusify myself, I am a good person. I think its great what Shaun does, he writes to people more than once because he is obviosly a fan

Re: Rowan Atkinson my best yet - still a very strong signer
Hi mymymy,
I was thinking about going up to London myself on Thursday to get Rowan to sign for me, do you know if he signs before going in the stage door, or is it only after he comes out? If he does sign before going in, do you know roughly what time he arrives?
Thanks,

Hey, Glad to help
It is actually best to get him after shows becasue he is in a bit more of a rush before and the time he arrives varies.
He has arrived between 12 and 1 for a 2.30 matinee but for evening shows he has gone in really early, like 3pm for rehearsals although I think this might die down after press night (tommorow). He does not come out after matinees.
So the best time to get to the stage door is 10pm to get a clear spot behind the barriers, it is a bit of a wait becasue 10 is when the play ends. he is the last to come out at around 10.40-11pm
goo luck

I certainley do concur with most of the above, as i strongly believe, that MYMYMY is a Top man, however saying that, some things need, to be thought about:
1) however respectful one is, Rowan will lose it one day, as he is a MOST private man.
2) Getting Upteen autographs of the same person, can come across, as a little self-serving, if I ever get 3 or more then, I will give the rest away, to others on this site, please remember that some will never get his autograph.
3) He now remembers you, and may not be so friendly next time.
4) I think the best rule of thumb is, if you set out to see a celeb, take a max, of 3 things for he/she to autograph, see them that once, and keep them sweet, for everyone else.
Re: Rowan Atkinson my best yet - still a very strong signer
On the most I agree, but if it someone I like, and I have more than 3 or 4 things for them, I will bring them and see if they sign.
David Tennant is one example, I'm a big Dr Who fan, and I wasnt going to let David slip away, and he kindly signed 10 photos for me, including one of me and him taken that day. If he didn't want to sign them all he could say he didn't want to which would be fine. This is the difference to TTM as they will probably not remember Shaun's name after a week or so, where as Tennant will remember me after just 10 seconds so it is up to him whether he does them.
