Korn - 10.30.2010

Unread post by setnomleb »

Korn came to my city EL Paso, TX on 10.30.10 to give a free concert where the venue claims around 20 thousand people attended. (This was in the parking lot of some ex-casino)

The Korn odyssey starts when I get out from work and my friend calls me to say that he just saw Vans with the Casino logo where Korn is playing parked outside a downtown hotel. As soon as he tells me this information I rushed to the hotel with my cousin and brother around 1pm. When we got there, we couldn't find parking so we looked and looked until we were passing by the hotel again and saw a white GMC truck with some guys with long hair and big guys in black that looked like security. We parked in a no parking zone and ran!
Turns out that Jonathan Davis (singer) was leaving the hotel towards the venue for sound check. Since we were running towards the hotel, we had to scream "Jonathan!" and he stopped. We kindly asked him if he could sign our things and his security instantly said NO and to get away but Jonathan said "Sure." He signed my vinyl record and my brothers jacket. No photos were allowed.
Once Jonathan left, we stayed outside the venue and saw Fieldy (bassist) outside walking around the hotel with some guy with long hair. Since we knew he was going to come back to the hotel, we waiting for him and once he was close enough we approached him and asked him to sign out things which he kindly did.
Fieldy left and we kept waiting for the other members (who didn't see 'till after the show). Around 3pm Fieldy came down from his room and asked us if any one of us knew where he could buy a charger for his macbook. Too make the story short, we offered to go to best buy and get him one and in return he gave us a photo of him which he signed for us.
After this, we left to the show and once it was over we went back to the hotel to try to meet the rest of the band. We waited around 1 hour and they arrived. The whole band in two cars. Korn's security saw us and made sure we didn't get close to the band but we were able to meet Ray (New Drummer) who kindly took a photo with me and signed our stuff.
We saw Munky but didn't get his signature. Maybe next time.

The end!

Awesome! Looks like we had a similar experience. I never did wind up seeing Jonathan. I know he travels separately from the rest of the band. And Monkey and Fieldy travel separately too, which I thought was weird...?

That's a pretty cool story about the best buy purchase for Fieldy. He ignored us at first until we were being persistent about stopping him. He was completely uninterested. You should see the photo of us together. He couldn't have cared less about his fans. Oh well.

Just out of curiosity. Was one of their security goons a bald white guy with black glasses? He was there the day we went out for them and he was not the nicest guy in the world.

To be honest with you, I don't remember what his security looked like. They were not rude but they weren't nice.
