Boz Scaggs...got him, but rude!

Yesterday afternoon I went out for Boz Scaggs to catch him on the way into sound check. His tour manager came over to me (I was the only person waiting for him) and asked me what I wanted Boz to sign. I gave him a pickguard, a CD album insert and 2 index cards. He didn't sign the index cards, but did sign the CD album and personlized my pick guard.

When I asked his tour manager what the possibility of getting a photo with him, he pretty much told me it wasn't going to happen before sound check. So, I got in my car, parked 5 spaces behind the tour bus and watched Boz cross the street.

So later on last night I meet up with 2 buddies of mine who wanted to get Boz on a few items. The show ended and one of Boz's handlers came out and collected the items that everyone wanted signed, "only 1 item per person guys!" is what he said. He went inside and came out a couple minutes later handing everything back, "Here's everyone's stuff, you all figure it out." "Don't bother him when he comes out."

There were all of 7 people total waiting on Boz. NOT a huge crowd by any strech of any imagination. He should be happy he still has fans and interact with the 7 people that were waiting for him.

As I approached him with my camera another women with the same idea asked him for a picture with him, he shook his head side to side and said, "i'm sorry". So I asked him and he said "no". When I told him that I was out here this afternoon and they told me no. He was really rude in replying, "yeah I remember you from this afternoon. I signed your stuff and you said you were happy with that" I told him that I only came back for a photo and he quickly replied with a pissed off "no".

What is the deal with these older generation artists? James Taylor was pretty nice, but Humperdinck and Scaggs were asses. Same with America from a few nights ago. I just don't get what their deal is with spending 2-3 min total with 7 or 10 people that might be waiting for them. And most times it's not even that it's more like 2-3 people! They take the excitement and joy out of this hobby.

Yeah i do agree that theres no reason for these older artists to be rude. Their fan base has obviously shrunk and they SHOULD be glad and appreciative of their fans. But, playing devils advocate, maybe after dealing with fans for 30+ years theres bound to be times when they just dont feel like it..but still, having good manners would be ideal.

Yeah I've thought about those bands that have been doing it so long that they are numb to it and every stop they go on tour there is another 3-4 people just like me wanting the same thing. But, at least kill them with kindness. I mean the least you could do is stop for a few minutes for the people that help pay your salary for the year!

Not to mention that word of mouth spreads like wildfire, both positive and negative feedback.

That happened to one of my autographing friends when he wanted Richard Marx ( Hello not popular anymore) anyways he was totally rude and ignored him and get this he was the only person there and he acted my autographing friend has the plague or something. First of be thankful you still have fans second of all don't be a jerk and acting like you are holier than thou. I know when it comes to autographs it can be tricky and not everyone "owes" us autographs but they do have to remember in the end the fans are the ones that buy your songs see your movies go to your sporting events,etc so be thankful!
