johnnylightninglives wrote:Nice photo and nice autograph but $40.00 is a bit much and its kind of sad to me that she has ended up selling autographs at conventions but her career isnt what it used to be but i always liked her as faith and in bring it on and soul survivers and the new guy. Does she really need to be going to conventions peddling her autograph for 40 bucks though or is she just greedy. :?
Being a guest at a convention doesn't mean that you have hit a low point in your career at all. It's just an opportunity for the fans to actually get to meet the celebrity who they like in person. $40 is kind of on the high end but it is by no means an unheard of price for someone to ask who is signing autographs at a convention. Mark Hamill asks $100+ for his.
Well it usually does mean either you have hit a low point in your career or you need the money or maybe some just do it for the easy money. Eliza is at a low point in her career because she hasnt had a popular tv show or made a good movie in 10 years and mark hamill has been at a low point since return of the jedi lol I agree its not always because you have a hit a low point alot of people on current popular sci fi shows go to them to help promote their shows and of course the secondary charactes from shows can milk conventions for most of their life now it seems and make a bit of easy cash.I know eliza sends autopen signatures and refuses to sign without being paid $40.00 so i dont think she does it for the fans.
.
Trust me I'm not arguing with you about Mark Hamill not being at a low point in his career I was just using him as an example of someone who charges a lot. Some people do go to conventions to sign and don't necessarily do it for the money. For example, Stan Lee has a net worth of over 200 million dollars and even though he makes good money from charging $50 per signature the man would be just fine without it. Long story short, if there is someone at a convention who I want to meet I will shell out the extra cash to do so even if I know I can get their authentic autograph TTM for free. Nothing beats meeting the person face to face.
Most Wanted: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Harrison Ford

Wonderful success!!! :D I met Eliza when she was at the Wizard Ohio Comic Con a couple months ago (which I volunteered at and was an unforgettable event). :D During my break, I asked her handlers about how much it was and if it was okay if I give her a drawing I made of her when I was 14 years old (I'm 22 now). lol. They were very kind and said she'd love it. Since I was volunteering, one of the supervisors (such an great guy) saw me waiting at the back of the line on my break and let me cut into the front of the line. I felt bad but he said not to worry about it. Anyways, when I finally met Eliza, her cousin had just walked to her booth so she was distracted but said she was so sorry for it and explained how long it had been since she'd seen her (as she lives in Ohio). I've been a fan of Eliza since her Buffy days and watched the show when I was very young. I was a little nervous but got over it quickly. I explained my drawing and she was very excited about it. I've improved a lot as an artist but I was a little embarrassed over my drawing as it wasn't my best work but I've had it for so long and thought she would get a kick out of it. She started doodling on the table and said, "This is how good I can draw."

She signed an autograph for me and I bought one for my mom as well. She was very kind to me and I think she took a little extra time talking with me (I also talked a little bit about a film she had done I had watched a week beforehand called "The Alphabet Killer"). I will admit, $40.00 each was expensive for me but like one of the users mentioned, if it's a person I really want to meet, I'm willing to save my money (However, I don't think I would pay $100.00 for Mark Hamil. It'd have to be someone I really, really admire and then some). lol. :P Anyways, great experience.

Here's the autographs:

P.S. I don't believe she signs authentically through the mail, anyways, which was another reason I wanted to meet her and get her autograph. Isn't she a Spanky Taylor client for auto-pens?
I appreciate and welcome comments on the authenticity of autographs I have received. Thank you! Sincerely, gghi18 8)

That's a cool story. I do a lot of volunteering at comicons too and it's great when you get to work with the celebrities and get free autographs. I've gotten freebies from Ray Park, Sean Astin, Meredith Salenger and Tara Strong.

Also I have gotten Eliza TTM and its an autopen for sure but the signature looks pretty cool though, it's a lot neater than her in person auto.

Really? AWESOME! It was my first time volunteering and I'm glad I did. I'll probably apply to volunteer next year when Wizard comes to Ohio again. That's cool about the freebies you've gotten. :D I couldn't agree more with you. ;)
