“Australia” Premiere in Sydney

18th Nov. I went there in the morning, it’s such a big premiere. I expected people start to line very early. Again, no one lining until 4:00pm. It started at 6:30pm. I was inside the cinema red carpet. Didn’t know what was happening outside. It was raining; I was not affected, of course. We were the last people to see Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, their interviews and photos by media are all outside.

There were a lot of Australian local celebrities pass by on the red carpet. Two girls next to me asked dozens of autographs and photos. I didn’t even bother to open my camera; I didn’t know these “celebrities”. Only know Ian Thorpe:

Nicole Kidman, walked very fast inside the cinema (she was absolutely gorgeous), and didn’t sign many autographs (maybe that’s because people didn’t really ask, I cannot believe many people in the front row didn’t have any pens and paper, they waited for 3 hours, just wanted to take some photos…???). I got both autograph and a photo with her (very lucky, indeed). She signed the photo, but on the wrong side, she signed her auto under Hugh’s image.

Hugh Jackman came afterwards, he signed even less than Nicole, the security kept saying, “we are in a hurry, have to go inside”. Luckily, my photo was big enough to draw his attention, but no time for photos. ? He signed under his image, and overlapped with Nicole’s auto.

End of the premiere, I looked at an auto another fan got from Nicole, that girl waited towards the front of the queue, and Nicole signed full name, I only got a shorter version.

Haha, really, that's funny! I stood towards the end of the queue (you must be on my left side). I only remembered there were two asian look girls on my left, who took pictures with every local celebrity. And there are 3 people further down who asked for autographs very often using a small notebook. Are you one of them? Did you stand in the front row?

Yeah, you were standing right outside the (closed) Subway, right?
I think the two Asian girls you're referring to were standing on my right. And yeah, they did ask for autographs/photos with every Australian celeb. I had a fight with one of them when I arrived there cos apparently I took her "spot" when there were metres of vacant space. Plus, I didn't see her name anywhere....

I got plenty of signatures from the local stars. Geoffrey Rush was so nice. And so was David Wenham; I told him we both went to the same school! John Jarratt - not so nice; he did seem pretty hesitant when I asked him for an autograph, albeit he did sign. I asked Nicole five times for an autograph and all she did was smile and wave. Hugh, on the other hand, was a extremely polite and signed. I've got about fifty photos from the night which I'm not going to bother posting here

And oh! I got to take one of those massive posters home

PS The girl who got the Nicole photo signed (which you posted) was really nice enough to take my friend and I to Chinatown for dinner!

From your description, i can roughly locate your position, you must be one of those 3 guys who asked for autographs all the time from local celebrities

I am sorry you didn't get Nicole's autograph. I thought she was very nice. She also posted photos with those two asian girls, i believe...

Unfortunately, i didn't took any good photo of Nicole on that night (all of them were blurry, she walked very fast), my camera was not very good. Do you have any online photo album where you can give me some clear HQ shots of Nicole?

Do you know that Chinese girl i met? I thought she left with another Chinese girl at the end. You met her on the way back, or you are a friend of her. You are not Chinese, are you?

Hi,

I have the photos uploaded on my Facebook but I've set the album to private, so you've gotta be a 'friend' to see

We bumped into the Chinese girl on the way out, and as my friend suggested we go for dinner at Chinatown, she overheard and told me that she was going there too with her friend - so yes, that could be the other girl you were referring to ;-)

Thanks!
I am not really interested in this movie. I have a feeling that rather than promote Australia to the world, the movie is actually telling people how bad and laggard Australia is. I don't think people would have incentive to travel to Australia after watching this movie...... :?
