Lee Mead - Joseph in Person success

Hi I went to see Lee Mead, winner of BBC Any Dream Will Do in the new London production of Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre, Strand. Afterwards met him briefly at the front of the theatre where he handed out preprint/autopenned pictures and then went around signing programmes and pictures afterwards. He and the rest of the cast gave a fantastic show and I was thrilled to see him afterwards. I was standing at the front so I got a 'Hello' and a smile after getting the PP/AP and then after he signed my programme (upside down!)

PP/AP picture handed out

The signed programme (signed upside down!)
Would really recommend going to see the show if you get the chance!

Congrats! I remember you wanting to meet him so congrats again!
And that's just about the most bizarre thing I have ever seen from a theatre star. I know over there you guys appreciate them a lot more than we do, but to hand out AP/PP/pre-signed photos or whatever is legit unheard of to me!
Congrats again, and for the record I love Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals!

Thanks Greg! Yep I was desperate to see him in Joseph and meet him before the end of his run!
Really? Well I guess it was rather an unusual thing to do, but I like the picture anyway! Do you have any idea what it is (PP, AP etc), out of interest? He was certainly very popular with his audience!
I love Lloyd Webber musicals too! He really is fantastic - I'd love his autograph, but I think he only tends to sign for charities and there aren't any recorded feedback successes for him on here.

True. Lloyd Webber only signs In Person or if you can get it via charity auction.
I'm guessing they could be either of the three, but I'd like to assume if I had one that it's an pre-signed thing he just sits there and signs for a while to give them out. Possibly AP, but i doubt a PP as it would look cheesey and they'd probably hope with an AP, which looks like the autograph anyway, that it would make some people leave the stagedoor area to be honest haha.

It's a PP - that's the same you get TTM.

I thought that too, because the bouncers at the door said that Lee has 'already signed them' so it might be to save time for Lee so that some people would go!

That's what I imagined, because I heard that Lee isn't allowed to sign pictures of himself because of something in his agency contract. My friend went to the show and he would only sign index cards, etc, but he was signing anything when I was there!

Wow - that surprises me - although it would make sense, Lee never seemed like a great signer. How long did you have to wait for him to come out after the show?

I'd say about 15 minutes ish. So not very long really. I don't know why there was a problem signing pictures of him when my friend went but not when I was there, though, that was a bit strange.

Lee has handed out those pictures since he started, I got one from him in his first week. However he will sign other items if you ask him to, I have three or four other signed items IP from him.
