TOM CRUISE IP SUCCESS!

After school yesterday, I waited for Tom Cruise at Letterman. He came in around 4 pm and didn't sign. On the way out around 6 pm, Tom came out when it was snowing hard. He came out and posed for the paparazzi and crossed the street to where the crowd was waiting (around 70-90 people). He went to the far end and started signing everything for everyone. But the problem was that the paparazzi were on the street blocking traffic from going past. Tom kept signing slowly down the line for everyone. When he got to the middle of the line (less than 5 feet away from where I was), his security guards said we gotta go and Tom waved while getting into his SUV. Paparazzi ruined it for the graphers by blocking traffic.

Today I went to Live with Regis & Kelly to try for Tom again. Regis Philbin walked in and as usual, took pictures with people. Regis is always a nice guy. Around 8:40 am, Tom Cruise's SUV pulls up and his security guard comes out. The security guy tells us, "He won't be signing anything on the way in, he needs to do a sound check." So Tom comes out and once he sees the 20 fans, he starts chatting and signing autographs. He took pictures with 10 people. He was signing outside in the light rain with a black sharpie that was dying. He looked at a glossy photo and said, "That's not going to come out well in the rain" and waited until he got into the garage to sign the photos in a dry area. Tom walked into the garage and switched sharpies to a blue sharpie. He kept signing and signing. I got my Details magazine and my 8x10 signed after he switched sharpies. Could have easily gotten 4 or more graphs from Tom. One of the best signers and most personable celebrity. Jamie Foxx walked in and said his usual, "I'll sign on the way out." On the way out, Tom's car garaged and he didn't sign in his car after more people arrived (40-50 people). Jamie Foxx's limo also pulled in the garage and he came out. He signed 3 autographs before jumping in his limo. Jamie is one of the hardest celebrities to get, usually ignores the graphers and never signs. Tom is always a great signer even though he is one of the biggest actors in Hollywood and named Forbes magazine's most powerful celebrity in the world. He just loves signing and meeting his fans.

I'm a bit jealous. Tom Cruise has been in som many great movies. I would love to get him to sign something from Minorty Report, but I'm just a middle age cop in northern Wisconsin - we don't have a lot of celebrities around here (except the occassional Green Bay Packer).

That's what happened to me when I tried to get Paris Hilton at Regis a long time ago.The Paparazzi ruin it.I was lucky enough to wiggle my way through but getting anywhere near her was not an option.Sometimes I hate the Paprazzi.They ruin it for graphers
