I still stick by my post. Every celebrity is different and you can't expect everything from everyone. You knew before hand that Alan does not sign Harry Potter pics, yet you still went ahead and did so and got no result. Can't blame him there. As far as printing is concerned, its practiced by those who want to make a quick buck. Showing him a Harry Potter item first then brandishing a piece of paper just would make him think that you want to do something "harry potter related".

I had no luck with Hilary Duff. Apparently she does not sign photos. Only like paper and cd's I think. Now I had no early notice and I wasted 8 hrs that day. My stint would hurt more than a "trial and error" run with Alan.

You got good IP successes but sometimes you got to ease up. This stuff happens. Now if you want to think about it, you went to Rowan Atkinson like a million times, and made him sign item after item. If you or others for that matter went to see him, he probably will be ticked off because he signed so much already during the previews of the show. Alan on the other hand gets ticked off because he hates a certain item.

Personally, if this sort of thing happened to me, Id be like "meh" - "maybe next year". Its not the end of the world. Disappointed yes, but always a lesson for another time.

What Mr Rickman has said ( I can't remember where , or who to ) is that he won't sign HP YET . He said he wouldn't sign any until the films were finished - he is still involved so doesn't want to focus on HP only .

I asked Kevin Spacey to sign a DVD cover , he told me he couldn't ( maybe wouldn't ) , but he happily signed my autograph book .

You have been collecting long enough now to know that some actors are friendly , some rude , some nasty , some scared stiff , every different type of person . Whatever we think of them , it is up to them if they sign at all - and quite a lot just don't - try asking Robert Redford anywhere in England to sign , and the odds are that he won't , or try asking Joachim Phoenix , who I have heard actually spat at someone who asked , as , I think , did Sean Penn .

I have to say that , if you knew your could meet him , which is why you took an Harry Potter item , you should have also taken an alternative - even just an autograph book , which some actors are more likely to sign .
Most recent successes :- Jake Gyllenhaal ( VV ) , Paddy Considine ( VV ) , Sam Elliott and Katherine Ross , Sir Roger Moore ( VV )

Bingo! {thumb2} My thoughts exactly. Without us they'd be just like any other human being making his way in this world. Give back to the people who helped make you who you are today instead of snobbing them and refusing to sign. {down} Sorry to hear about your dissapointment. If I ever get a chance to meet him I'll do my darndest to snag a sig for ya! {thumb2}

You are overreacting, Benedict. A lot. I'm sorry he didn't sign your HP cover but that's just life. I stood for 8 freezing hours during two days to meet David Tennant at Novello and missed him by 2 minutes on the second day. Life is a biatch but there's no need to cry.

I agree with a lot of the views expressed here. If Alan doesn't want to sign it's his choice. You knew the risks and yet you tried.

However, things brings up something I have seen a lot of recently. People posting IP failures. In the TTM forums each post is feedback - whether a success or a failure. If it's a failure, we know there might be an issue with the address, or that they won't sign. Do we really need IP failures documenting? Especially when it's a one time big event, like the Brits or BAFTAs. Saying "I saw this famous person, and that one, oh and so and so was there, but they all signed one or two and not me. Here are the pics I took" is totally pointless as far as graphing goes (though may be appropriate in other sections just going "woo look where I went & who I saw").
Favourite: David Tennant IP, John Barrowman IP, Patrick Stewart IP, Catherine Tate VV.
Newest: John Simm IP, Suranne Jones IP, Jonathan Groff IP.

So if you were making a huge film series with millions of fans you'd sign every single one of them, possibly multiples for people? Yes he could have been nicer, but with hundreds of strangers asking for autographs daily no wonder he may not sign HP items.

Bennedict, considering you knew full well he didn't sign HP you took a DVD cover of it? Also, once he saw that he knew you were a HP person so an index card matted up with a photo could be done.

Also, you can't expect every celebrity to do everything you want. With several IPs over the last week, you should accept one failure. It's part of life. I thought your billion Robin Williams and Rown Atkinsons were more important anyway?
