It looks like I 'm the second one here to post something about the LA premiere for Public Enemies. Since this was my first premiere, I can't help but write a long post about it

My sister (Joselyn) and I began waiting at about 12:30 PM by the barriers next to the red carpet. Since the celebrities did not start arriving until 7PM, we had a long time to wait. I'm still not exactly sure how we managed to sit/stand there for six hours and a half.
So anyhow, fast forward. 3:00PM, it still was not TOO crowded. Joselyn and I still had our first row "seats" since we were right behind the barrier. Things were getting more interesting though. There were two raised platforms in front of us (people standing on the platforms were about 5 feet away, so it was really close), and it turned out that those were platforms for Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood (across from these two platforms were another two platforms for Extra and E News). Joselyn and I deliberated whether we should stay in our current spots (we we afraid that our vision would be blocked and that the celebrities would not come behind the platforms to sign autographs) or move across the street, since we knew that both Christian Bale and Johnny Depp were really nice to fans and would often go across the street at premieres to sign autographs. In the end, we decided on staying next to the red carpet.
At around 5:00PM, the press started coming in and setting up. We had fun watching the Entertainment Tonight (ET) camera guys and the setup crew fool around. They were really nice. They joked about Johnny Depp and even gave me the ET microphone to hold while one of the camera guys took a picture for me! That was brilliant. A lot of the crew complimented Joselyn's poster, and tons of camera guys came and got shots of Joselyn (and me) holding up the poster! Stroke of genius. We went on youtube today to watch some of the videos from ET and Access Hollywood, and guess what? There were shots of us! Cool, right?
Finally, finally, FINALLY, 7:00PM rolled around. The place was swarming with eager fans and tons of press and security. Things were getting very exciting. A couple of black SUVs and limos rolled up, but we did not recognize anyone. I'm assuming those were just the producer's family and friends and other not-so-famous cast members. Anyhow, Rory Cochrane (Tim Speedle from CSI Miami) soon arrived. One guy on my side got an autograph. He went for interviews on all 4 platforms, then posed for some papparazzi photos in front of the banner and then walked off for more press interviews (from not so big press, such as MTV, spanish stations, whatever), then he went inside the theater for the screening. Some other people arrived, but it was not all that exciting, since no one really recognized anyone. Leelee Sobieski and Branka Katic were there and that attracted some screaming from fans. Both didn't sign autographs, but waved to the fans and did interviews.
At this time, I suddenly realized that I had somehow been pushed sideways so that I was wedged tightly between a tree trunk and the barrier. Now that I look back, I'm surprised I actually fit in that space. The tree trunk was literally 3 inches away from the barrier. And yes, I was stuck right between the two objects so that I couldn't move even if I wanted to.
Finally, when Christian Bale and his wife stepped out of a black SUV, all the fans started screaming. He immediately went across the street with his wife and started signing autographs for fans there. A few minutes later, he came back and did the interviews on each of the 4 platforms. All this time, the fans on my side were screaming and yelling his name. After posing for a few photos with his wife for the papparazzi, his wife kind of nudged him our way, and he walked over (just for the record, I love his wife for helping us. She was so nice, and she was really pretty yesterday)!
He came over and everyone around me (me included) thrust out our photos and Sharpies for him to sign. He kind of hesitated and looked as if he did not know where to start signing, but then, since he was right in front of me, I said to him, "Can you please sign this for me?" and he smiled and took my 8x10 photo of Public Enemies and my Silver Sharpie and said to me, "What's your name?"
Of course, I said, "Josephine" and he autographed my photo and inscribed to me, Josephine, and handed it back. Next, he turned to my sister and signed her 4x6 photo and inscribed it to her. And so, on he went down the line. I'm pretty sure only some of the first-row fans got to get his autograph. The people in the back had no luck, sadly. But really, that was AMAZING. I talked to him, got his autograph, and he used my Sharpie! He really is a nice guy. And he was in a great mood yesterday.
Unfortunately, he couldn't take photos with anyone. The security people were rushing him. Bright side is that I took tons of good photos of him.
I think Marion Cotillard came around next, but she did not sign autographs for anyone. She did the interviews, waved to the fans, then posed for photos.
So, when Johnny Depp arrived in his black SUV, the crowd went crazy. He also went across the street to sign autographs, but he had about three body guards and security people around him. After a few minutes, he came back, attracting even more screams, and he did interviews on the platforms. Here, a couple security guards had to come hold back the barriers, since the crowd was pushing forward. Because I was wedged between the tree and the barrier, every time the guards pushed against the barrier, I was so squeezed that I couldn't breathe and my abdomen hurt. Johnny Depp reached out from the platform and touched hands with a few fans five feet away from me. He looked like he wanted to come down and sign autographs, but the darn body guards kept pushing him ahead to do photos and press interviews. Honestly, if the guards were not there, I bet he would have spent a long time with the fans. So no, I did not manage to get his autograph. Bad luck.

Oh, and Rosario Dawson was there too. I'm not sure why, since she's not in the movie, as far as I know. But whatever. It was great seeing her in-person too.
So anyhow, that was my experience yesterday at the Public Enemies movie premiere. Overall, it was fantastic. I don't think Johnny Depp saw the poster my sister made, but it's all good since her poster got us on camera (heehee). We both got Christian Bale's autograph. Even though we didn't get Marion Cotillard's yesterday, we're still happy because we had written to her when she was filming Public Enemies and got her autograph that way. So everything turned out for the best (minus the waiting and the standing and the pain from being stuck between the tree and metal barrier).
Now, I can't wait until the movie comes out on July 1. I want to watch it!
