Tom Hanks

Last nite, I was lucky enough to get Tom Hanks on a June of 1988 Rolling Stone magazine when he was on the cover. He was in town for an award reception/dinner for James Lovell. Hanks arrived about 45 minutes before the event started. He signed about 4 autographs for the 12 or so people waiting. He got out of a black car, walked to the sidewalk in front of the hotel, signed for very few people, said"That's it,that's the last one." Very happy to get him in person.
As for the signature, VERY rushed. He only signed "TOM" but very big & pretty messy.
After the event was over, my buddy & I waited for Mr. Lovell to come out. He,along with his assistant stated"tonite isn't a good nite for James to sign." So kinda bummed about that.
But to cap the nite off, my bud & I went to a local theatre where we got actress/comedian Sandra Bernhart to sign a 1992 Playboy she was on for the each of us. It was a super cold nite here in Chicago but she still was nice enough to take a photo before leaving in a car with her assistants.
This is my second good in person success this month, along with Philip Seymour Hoffman, who has been here for a bit. He is also directing a play here until late Feb.
Danks!
