Okay, So I got to red's at around 11:30 when they were giving wristbands and I got my wristband, Afterwards I got back to red's at around 1:45 ish and when I asked the girl at the door about how Melissa's autograph session will work she asks me if I want to meet mel at a private meet and greet (96X had a private meet and greet along with some wal-mart staff and a couple of "Edmonton Sun" contest winners) so i was more than willing to say YES! hah. Anyways, they line us up downstairs for about 30 minutes till about 2:15 when we were taken upstairs at the red's room. It was a room filled with sofa's and tables along with a curtain to cover up the windows. While we waited we were told we can get autographs, pictures and time to talk with Melissa. There were about twenty - thirty ish people up stairs. She came up at about 2:30 - she looked so tired but joyful. She wore a flower covered blazer, a pair of jeans and mukluks (uggs with fur outside with little pom poms dangling for those who don't know). Anyways, When it was my turn meeting her this was how my encounter went.
Me: Hey Melissa!
Melissa: *Shakes hands* Hey What's your name?
Me: Anton
Melissa: Nice to meet you Anton.
Me: *Hands Mel my cd cover, and asks if she could sign two 8X10 photos for me* I also wanted to say,
It's so cool to see how interactive you are with your fans, especially your fans on myspace. It's just so surreal seeing you along with more and more celebrities on there.
Melissa: Aww, Thank you. How do you spell your name? A - N - T - O - N?
Me: Yes.
Melissa: So which myspace user are you?
Me: oh my name is just anton.
Melissa: Haha, that makes it easier to find you then. How long have you been using myspace for?
Me: I recently just got it a few months ago, my friends and cousins in cali got me hooked on it!
Melissa: Haha, wow.
Me: Yeah.
Melissa: You know what?
Me: What?
Melissa: At a recent autograph session this guy asked me to sign my cd's for his daughter and her name was "Hope" and now they're selling it on ebay saying that I gave him inspiration for hope or something.
Me: Aww, I hate whenever there's autograph hounds at these events, they totally ruin fan-experiences just for their $20.00 and most of the time people are selling fake autographs, it's so retarded.
Melissa: Oh i know!!
Melissa: Well it was so nice to meet you Anton.
Me: Thanks so much Melissa, it was really nice meeting you too!
After that we were taken down to V.I.P seating where we were then moved to the floor. Me and Courtney were right at the front wooo. She sand three songs : Alive, Just like January and Let It Go. The crowd wasn't what I expected it to be...there were at least no more than 60 to 100 people. It was such a small yet intimate crowd. But the crowd wasn't all screams like I was expecting, it was very quiet lol. It was so funny cause she tried to open her water bottle, but she splashed a bit on her jeans and it looked like she pissed her pants heh heh, and it was so funny when she talked about christmas shopping in Edmonton because we don't have PST haha, and she talked about shopping at that build-a-bear place because she made someone a spiderman bear, which was so nice and sweet. On to the meet and greet. My friend Courtney and I were like the fifth people in line which was cool, I got her to sign my v.i.p pass and "Alive" single cover. At the table we talked again, this was our conversation.
Melissa: Hey Anton!
Me: Hey again Melissa.
Melissa: Did you enjoy the set?
Me: Yeah! you were awesome, I wished more people came.
Melissa: Aww, yeah.
Me: Thanks again for signing my stuff, you're so cool.
Melissa: *smiles*, they're for you right?
Me: Yeah! hey, is it okay if i could get another pic?
Melissa: Sure
Both of us: *we struggle to get a decent pic because of the short distance and it took us about 3 times, and the third time we finally got a pic, but us looking like retards LOL*
Me: Thanks again Melissa, you seriously rock i hope you come back soon!
So that was pretty much my encounter with Melissa. She was so nice and funny. I really do hope she comes back and gets more people out. I personally think she should've done this at the HMV stage where more attention would've been drawn rather then at reds where there was only like 100 people.
