I sent her a couple photos months ago and never heard anything back. Heard about the hollywood show and that she was going to be there making her first appearance. Acting like it was going to be her only appearance, I decided to travel to Burbank and meet her with some things to get signed.

3 photos personalized to me, and Gone with the Wind dvd and blu ray covers personalized as well, i'll show scans later. I even found a photo she'd never seen before and she wrote about it in the photo. It was so much fun. Thanks Ethan for telling me about it! Now I wonder if I should take the chance and send one of them to Olivia to get signed. Your thoughts will be helpful.

The items as promised!

Congrats..... I don't think you should send it to Mrs. De Havilland because she has not signed for 3 months know and is so random also when she signs..If she signed more often then yes but you do not want to risk losing your photo:) If I had known you were going.............. I love Ann Rutherford and have been trying TTm for a long time:)

Olivia rarely signs,i was lucky to get my photos back signed in 2008! Fortunately she has an excellent secretary. I do believe she only answers to letters she really likes. So if You dare to do it... write a nice letter with the photo and cross Your fingers.....

I wrote to Ms. de Havilland quite a few times, but never heard anything back from her. :( I did hear back from Ann Rutherford, though. :)

Thankyou for the feedback. I still think i'm going to send one of the blu ray or dvd covers, a blu ray cover from Robin Hood and a nice birthday card. I'll write on the forwarding envelope Happy Birthday Olivia! Make it totally stand out. I still think it is worth sending her, she is Olivia de Havilland for goodness sake! By the way I was able to ask Ann some questions. She was in a movie with Errol Flynn in the forties. I asked her what it was like to work with him. She said he was always good at his lines, a very bright man. She said something about they couldn't keep the monkey on his shoulder and had to do a lot of takes. I ate it all up. I also asked her about Olivia, and if they are still friends. She said she adores Olivia, and somehow or 'nother they are related through marriage or something. I wish I could have asked her more! She was in films with Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw too. Heck, I should have asked about Clark Gable. I got a picture with her too! I also got to sit down and talk to Carla Laemmle from Phantom of the Opera and Dracula, and all kinds of cool people. I asked her about Lon Chaney and what it was like to work with him. She said he was a terrific actor! What a great day.

P.S. Ann did charge 20 bucks an auto, but I didn't care.

Congrats! You failed to metion that it costs $20 to get in.
I don't like to support these type of shows because I feel that its not right to charge for an autograph, especially since we've already "supported" them by paying to see their movies and buying the videos and dvd's.
BUT
For someone like an Ann Rutherford you have to do what you have to do to assure you get her before she passes on.
Fortunately I see Ann on occassion away from these types of shows and I can get her to sign for free.
Congrats again.

Ah, yes the 20 dollar fee. Eh. I only paid celebs who their profits go to charity. Ann Rutherford's profit from the auto signings all went to charity. It was such a fun day. I met Ann Jeffries, Coleen Gray, Donna Martel and Barbara Feldon. Also Ned Ryerson from Groundhog Day! It was so huge. Comic Con, Smomic Con!

I am against sending to Olivia De Havilland because you got already 3 photo's by her I have been trying to keep my mouth closed but you know people like me are trying to get her to answer one requests. I have been a fan of hers for so long and adore her:( I have written beautiful letters sent my photo's ect...... no answer........ I just think if she answered your request, it would taking up the time of another fans request that she could have signed..... You already got her I cannot believe no in is content with what they have........... I think people who resend do not understand the true appreciation of getting autographs... It takes a lot of time for a person to sign one and with Olivia De Havilland it's amazing... plus if her secretary caught you re-sending again she would think you are a dealer and that would probably make it difficult for all her fans:) I really do not care what you do but it's just my opinion!!!
