In Person (IP) Auto Hunt
I started collecting Fan Packs from MLB (baseball) and NFL (football) teams 2 years ago. I got one NBA Fan Pack from the Detroit Pistons once and have started my autograph collection via mail (TTM) this year. From the latter I got 1 card back from Dirk NBowitzki and 3 from Steve Kerr (+ an index card he signed).
For celebrities, my most favorite TTM successes are from Jackie Chan, CNN Hero of the year, Efren Penaflorida, and Dame Judi Dench.
But the biggest thrill comes from meeting the sportsmen themselves so after the NBA Asia Challenge last August 25 (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 12e11ab89f) where I got a lot of PBA and NBA Legend autos, I went to Robinson's Place Manila earlier to fulfill one of my most wanted signatures, that of The Magician,
Efren "Bata" Reyes.
These are what I got:

Unfortunately their duo lost the game to Indonesia ( I even feel I was a part of why, geez!, I had Bata sign my pic before the game and I was the only one who got to him). It's a good thing the host country gets to have 2 teams so we still have a chance with Team B (ex-world No.1 Dennis Orcullo and Roberto Gomez who play tomorrow).
I also got signatures of some of the pool stars of Germany, England, and Spain (who were very crowd-friendly). As well as Russia, Sweden, Japan, USA, even the lady referree and the emcee (who was quite a comic and very talkative)!
Geez, I even asked the Indonesian team to sign while they were looking for where the venue was (sana niligaw ko na lang pala sila, haha!). Sabi ko pa, "hey guy, can you sign for me then I'll tell you where to go." because they were lost and I was on my way to get some drinks.
It would have been best though if Django and Bata had a "three-peat" (they're the 2006 and 2009 World Cup of Pool Champions). Somehow I feel, my auto hunt lost 75% of the joy I would have had if they won and got into the quarterfinals today.
Oh well, I just console myself by saying they were the ones holding the cue sticks still.
p.s. sorry abut the clarity of the pics, nasa hiraman ang digicam ko, obviously biglaan lang napagdesisyunan to go to the event... and as with the NBA Asia Challenge, pamasahe at tiyaga lang ang puhunan.
Here are some actual pics:
