I am very fortunate to be a member of such a wonderful community of people and as I wish to be welcome back and do the right the thing, please be patient as this is my first posting. I've read all the rules but there are a lot of them and I may still be doing it wrong.
Anyway, I am pleased to share these photos of my signed photos and a few stories of how I obtained them...
My First is:
ADAM WEST- The Actor who most famously portrayed Batman from the 1960's Television series
I met Mr. West at the Syracuse Nationals in Syracuse, NY Last summer (2009).
He was an awesome person to meet and one I'd like to visit again. Being a vendor at the show, I'd often go over to his table trying to decide what time would be best to join the line. In total, I visited him three times. The first was to get a quote on prices. Mr. West was very nice and seemed very pleased to see me (not JUST me though). He said hello and asked how he could help me. I told him I've always wanted to meet him and he smiled and said thank you. Then I asked him how much he was charging for a signed 8x10 and a photo with him. He started to answer but then the guy with him (I think was his manager) said that photos with Mr. West were $20.00 and no camera flashes were allowed. He then told me that signed items were $40.00. I told him that would be back later, after I got some money and Mr. West said he looked forward to seeing me again.
Once I went back to him for the second time, I only had $30 and decided I would get a photo with him and then buy a signed 8x10 off his website for $25.00 (at the time). He stood up and I stepped behind his table to better pose and the manager took the photo. I stepped back and shook Mr. West's hand and he asked me if I was wearing Degree (a deodorant if you haven't heard of it). I was obviously surprised by the question but said yes I am. He smiled back and said, "You smell good." I laughed and said thank you.
Later on in the day, I decided that I'd made enough money and that I'd rather watch Mr. West sign the photo so I went back to his table. Although, I don't think I was a bother to him; because he didn't seem to remember me any of the times I visited him. No matter, he was fun this time visit too. I joined the line as his manager was placing the photos in a box ready to leave. He asked if I wanted a photo with Mr. West or a signed 8x10 and I told him if it wasn't to much trouble to get the photos back out (he only had three different ones) I'd like a signed photo. He said it wasn't a problem and removed a Batman photo at random (luckily for me, it was the one I wanted). Mr. West came back to the table (He was talking to the owner of the Batmobile replica next to his table) and was told by the manager I was hoping to get him to sign the photo. He picked up the Batman 8x10 and a blue Sharpie and signed it to my name as requested by me. He handed me the photo as he sat down and asked me if I was a Family Guy fan. I said that was (because I am) and he smiled and started signing his name ("ADAM WEST! AADAM WESST!) while sliding part way down his chair. Now, if you aren't a Family Guy fan or have no clue why he would do this, it is beacuse he plays Mayor West in Family Guy and one of the episodes featured Mayor West doing the same thing (Singing his name but eventually hiding under the table instead of just sliding down the chair). I laughed as did a good majority of the remaining people in his line. Lee Meriwether (Catwoman from the 60's Batman) who was also a guest and sitting elbo to elbow with Mr. West asked him what he was doing and he turned to her and said "It's a Family Guy thing."
Overall, I think Mr. West was the nicest person I've met and I'd gladly see him again. My encounter with Batman is a memory I will look back upon fondly. It will always bring a smile to my face.
