I am very fortunate to be a member of such a wonderful community of people and as I wish to be welcome back and do the right the thing, please be patient as this is my first posting. I've read all the rules but there are a lot of them and I may still be doing it wrong.
Anyway, I am pleased to share these photos of my signed photos and a few stories of how I obtained them...
DENIS LAWSON- Actor who has appeared in numerous British television series and STAR WARS IV-VI
This has to be my most prized possesion. As most Star wars fans know, Mr. Lawson is not a Star Wars fan and consistantly refuses to sign photos associated with these films. That is why I was overjoyed (probably more than a normal person should be) when Showmasters announced Mr. Lawson's first ever convention appearance at this past November's Collectormania London. Being a citizen of the USA and being young enough not to be trusted to travel overseas, I was unable to attend. Thankfully, Showmasters has a Pre-Order option for fans not allowed to attend. So, I Pre-Ordered an 8x10 personalized Star Wars photo. Personalization was $8.00 extra and I was not able to choose or preview the photos available, but that's a small bummer.
Anyway, about three weeks after the show, I received my order. Yes it took three weeks to get here from the UK but it is NO fault to Showmasters as they stayed in constant contact with me, giving me updates on my order. I opened the envelope and my Mr. Lawson signed 8x10 was the first photo I took out (I got one for my brother and an 8x10 signed photo of Michael Biehn). Mr. Lawson signed the photo exactly as I had hoped he would. He wrote: "Best Wishes, Cover Me [and then my name] and then signed it.
Since I wasn't able to meet him but wanted to know what he was like, I asked a few people who had met him at the show and they said that Mr. Lawson was a very nice and gentle man. He truly enjoyed hearing from his fans (especialy those who like his work outside of Star Wars too). The people I wrote to also said he was kind to the Star Wars fans although was reasonably quiet and to the point when asked odd ball questions like: what it's like to fly an X-Wing in space and what Luke Skywalker was like; by men in their 30's (Star Wars is fictional you know... Science fictional).
Anyway, I am very pleased to add Mr. Lawson's signature (on a Star Wars photo!) to my collection.
