Only 5 of you were waiting?? Oh man, that is bad. I am so sorry for you. Not even signing in person, is just the ultimate act of d*ck-ness. Such a shame.

velvetgold,
if you and the other poster's are such "real" fans then you would have known that Ringo said he wasn't going to sign autographs anymore. He even gave a cutoff date to when he would stop. I hate it when people want someone's autograph just because someone else get's a success. If you are a true fan you would have written to Ringo a long time ago or tried for him at a venue when he was signing instead of at the last minute.

...Or perhaps they didn't get into collecting until after that?

I certainly don't need to prove to ANYONE that I'm a "real" fan, and for your information, I am very much aware of Ringo's "cut off date". And while I perhaps agree with not signing things through the mail, I think it's just downright rude to ignore people's in person requests, especially when there are so few people waiting for you. He should be thrilled the Beatles are still thriving after this many years. Every generation discovers the Beatles for themselves, and it's just a bit sad to think that some 20 year old somewhere who's just discovering the magic of the Beatles will never have the chance of having an encounter with Ringo or getting his autograph because he decided to turn into a bit of a prick. Ringo should look at it from the other perspective, and try and understand just how much the Beatles mean to so many. Just scribbling his name would make SO many people happy. Such a simple way to say thank you for the fortune he is now enjoying.

Second, your logic is completely flawed. I only discovered via venue later on in collecting, and was not able to reach Ringo before his "cut off". And I only became a hardcore Beatles a few years ago when I grew into my 20s. To say I'm not worthy of having his autograph because I didn't write him a long time ago is simply ludicrous!

I completely agree with you! I knew about his cut off as well, but for me it was too late to send him a pic as I discovered the Beatles magic music while I turned 15... I know that I'm different than most of the teens nowdays with my music taste, but I think it's not not fair from Ringo to stop signing, as I never had the possibitily to get my pic signed! Luckily I met a friend of him earlier this year, who got Ringos sig for me!! I'm sooo unbelievable thankful for that and feel sorry for the ones who will never get the possibility to get their pic or LP signed by him...

tardis2006johnb, what you just said makes no sence. so your saying this guy isnt a fan because he should have got ringo before he stopped signing? didnt you notice that "parlamentetfanErik" said he tried to MEET ringo for an auto? at what point did ringo say he was going to stop signing in person? as far as i remember he didnt, he just said he was going to "toss" any fanmail after a date in october i believe.

ive been a fan of ringos and the beatles since i was 12. im now 23. im still a fan but ive lost respect for ringo because hes become a bit of a ass recently. fare enough hes been signing for years, but he doesnt need to be such a dick about it now.
