Just got back from seeing Boeing Boeing in London's West End. I wanted to see the show but my sole intention was to get at least one Rhea Perlman success as I l=think she is a great actress and it will also be an excellent addition to my 'Cheers' collection of autographs. Boy it was hard to get it but I got it, 3 infact.

I arrived at 12.30, 2 hours before the mattinee show at 2.30 to buy a ticket and locate the stage door. It was around the corner from the main entrance. At the stage door there were a couple of collectors already waiting for Rhea and also Kevin R McNally (Pirates of The Carribean). Kevin came a few minutes later and got him to sign a leaflet. He was very kind and took plenty of time to sign and take photos and was very relaxed.

Now the tricky thing is that there is another exit/entrance for the actors around the next corner of the building that I did not know about. One of the other collectors saw Rhea slip in and I ran with him to the door. He was first in line and shouted to her inside to ask for an autograph. She said, 'alright then but only one, im late as it is' As soon as she signed this one she ran off to her dressing room (i presume). I did call but she ran off and not sure she even saw me. Anyway I was so jellious right then.

With this in mind, just as the cast were bowing (thanks for the advice fudgemonkey) I made a swift exit so I did not get caught up in the rush of people and this time headed for the corner of the buiding, where I could see both the stage door and the 'secret' exit.

anyway about 5 minutes after this, I saw Rhea come out and cross the road, I called to her 'Rhea, excuse me' as I was running towards her and she turned around. I asked her if I could get a few autographs to which she replied 'sure'. While she was signing I kept saying 'thank you' and 'I am a huge fan' she handed my the 3 items back signed. I thanked her agin and she said 'youre welcome.

To me suprise,I was the only one at the end of this show waiting for autographs but nether the less I still feel that this is very special especially as not ecvveryone always comes out of the theatre betwwen the end of a matinnee and an evening show. She seemed very kind and willing to sign but she must want not to be noticed or something. Also I was very suprised both on stage and in person that she is not as small as I thought. She seemed in such a rush and as after 3 autographs I didnt want to keep her that I didnt manage to get a photo of/with her but I am still very happy.

One dissapointment was Neil Stuke (Game-On, The Bill),who although is a great actor and stole the hsow 'appears to all those waiting at the stage door: grumpy, unaproachable and actually refused to sign. Obviously not appreciattive of his fans or just caught him on an off day.

Hi Fudgemonkey. Thank you very much for the advice.

I will try to get an extra autograph to trade/sell if I manage to get more than one. I will let you know how I get on.

thanks again, mymymy

if i were you, i wouldn't get there 2 hours early. the actors/actresses dont come that early. also, some actors/actresses don't even sign before shows (that's what happened to me when i saw curtainson broadway. i tried to get david hyde pierce's autograph before the show, but he only signs after shows. i ended up standing in line til 11 at night getting his autograph).

anyway, if i were you, at the end of the show, id stand up and leave the building (at the VERY end, like the curtain call or something thats not important to see). then be the first in line at the stage door.

by the way, would you be willing to get an extra autograph of her if you get one at all? i would be very interested in trading or buying one of rhea's.

Sorry but I disagree. I've been up to numerous theatres in London, and have found 90% of cast members are happy to sign when they go in. The only person not to have signed going in is Orlando Bloom, but he is getting crowds of 500 or so every day.

Re: Time to arrive, I'd get there about 2 hours early depending on the name. Some cast members arrive 2 hours before the show, including names such as Kelly Osbourne and Honor Blackman.

Thanks james.
I went last weekend to see Boeing Boeing at The Comedy Theatre.

Rhea Perlman was in a rush so couldnt sign before the show but Kevin R McNally was very relaxed and took his time to sign and take photos before the show.

I caught Rhea after the show and she signed my programme, leaflet and 'Cheers' DVD cover. She seemed very nice.
