Some celebrities simply do not respond from their personal address so that people will not know that it is legitimate and continue to send mail there. If the agency is forwarding unwanted mail to his address, he should take his concern up with them.

It's not that the mail is being forwarded to his home address by his agency, it's that he doesn't want his home address on the internet. He wants people to send to his agency for them to forward, so he has his address private. The address in the database is his home address, so people are sending there instead of the agency. This is why he is angry.

I have found him to be a charming man if you follow the right way of getting in touch with him, right down to the amazing artwork he painted for me last year. No,there's no need to reply like he does, but a simple check on here alone shows his previous responses...

And I'm sorry, but if you expect someone to sign eight items, regardless of personalisations, then you have to take what is thrown at you if they choose not to.

Oh, I understood that. Sorry if my post led you to believe otherwise. I included the forwarded mail comments because parlamentetfanErik on page 1 of the thread mentioned that his friend got a nasty reply from Mr. Griffiths as well after fanmail sent to the agency had been forwarded by the agency to his personal address! I realize that Ravenclawking97 sent his request to the private residence and wholeheartedly agree that a celebrity may not feel comfortable with that.

If he didn't like replying to fanmail he would just ignore it like other celebs sometimes do :-)
He actually takes the time to reply treasure this success because in my opinion it's BRILLIANT It's original, you have an authentic signature what more can you wish for ?

Not a worry mate, you actually make some good points. It's those who are long term members and should know better than to go through the same thing over and over again.

Just got an angry letter from Richard Griffiths today, and it was for my TWELVE year old daughter. She just started her collection and so far has only Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Rickman. We have been waiting for the ones from the UK to start coming in. Today we got the first one..I recognized the UK stamps. I ran to my daughter's room and had her open it. We sent him 4 (4X6) photos and a very nice letter (which states she is in the sixth grade and just turned 12) she also wrote a lot of Uncle Vernon quotes, and a SAE with one dollar. He sent the photos back all unsigned with a page long letter RANTING about how does she expect him to drive to exchange the money and then to the post office and to keep to money and "as Spock says live long as prosper"??????????????????? And he is not a free international autograph service.
What an A****le!!!!!!
My daughter cried for over an hour and is devasted that "Uncle Vernon" hates her (her words).
BTW if he went and stood in line to send this RANTING letter could he have at least signed one photo? JERK!!!!!!!!!!
I will be writing him back to let him know that a BIG portion of HP fans are kids, so maybe he could not address his lunatic letters to them, who just want an autograph from the characters of their favorite movie series! Why reply at all??
