Unfortunately it is near impossible to get an authentic Christopher Lee signature nowadays. I have heard from reliable sources who have met him and asked him in person numerous times that he stamps in person also, as due to his very old age and advanced arthritis he can no longer use a pen to sign well, or on bad days cant use a pen at all. i dont know him personally but it makes sense.

This is also why his film appearances of the last ten years have been mainly short cameos and usually sitting down (like the fisherman in dark shadows) and also why he refused to fly to New Zealand for a part in the hobbit series. my understanding is that his scenes will/have been filmed in england and inserted in (i dont know for sure though, i havent seen it) his health is failing and he cant do as much as he used to.

I know that a stamp/auto pen IS NOT a genuine autograph, but hopefully you can take consolation the the fact that they still reply at all.

good luck with your lord of the rings collection. ive worked with sean astin and think you should definately try him if he comes to your town for an appearance etc. he was incredibly fan friendly. i dont know if he does ttm though.
What a nice reply. :) Thank you! I'm actually very happy that I even got my photo back :)

why refused? He had often flown to Germany. I have seen 3 x Christopher Lee in Berlin. Last this year, he was in Berlin. And it's true, he writes personally no autographs.

As I said in my first post, I didn't even expect I would get it back at all. So yeah, I'm happy.
You seem like a very sad and boring person, good for you! :)

I will NEVER understand people who think getting something non-authentic back is a good thing. If that's sad and boring, then yup, you got me.

Another "autograph" that belongs in the trash. Stamped signatures are not autographs.

I'd rather get something not authentic back than nothing at all. At least this shows they care at least a little, unlike celebs who'd just throw it in the trash because they don't sign ttm.
