home addresses make no difference. The stars have staff whether it's gardeners, cooks, secretaries and more. The don't cook the food and send it to the actor to eat, they make it in their home. They don't do the landscaping and send a truck to the home for the actor to put it in.

Charlton Heston had a loyal secretary for many years and a majority of the successes came from his home address.

Dick Van Dyke TTM autographs are secretarial. I really wish they weren't, as I'd love to have his autograph. I've written to venues he's performed at 6 or 7 times (I just sent one last month, in fact). I sent them all to venues that forward mail, and never heard a thing. Why would he sign every single item he receives at his home and NEVER respond via venue (I've talked to multiple others who have tried).

The secretary who signs his mail has obviously been doing it for a long time. It doesn't surprise me that it convinces some people. However, if you look at "in person" examples, it is much different (crammed, angled, sloppy). I understand the difference between sitting down to sign, and signing "on the go." But, every TTM autograph is just too neat and perfect. The guy just doesn't sign like that.

However, there's light at the end of the tunnel for anyone who wants a real autograph from him. It was announced earlier this week he is doing a RARE private signing! The price tag is high, but worth it in my opinion. Especially considering it's the only way to get a real autograph from him. Why would Dick offer a private signing, charging a minimum of $90 for an 8x10, while signing for free TTM?

Here is a link to the signing:

Someone with some money to spare should go there and pay the $90 and after he signs rip it up and throw it in his face. I wish I could afford to do it myself.

Personally, I am on the fence with Dick Van Dyke. Below are a couple certified autos (out of many) which match his TTM signature perfectly. You have to remember that IP autos often to not match TTM. IP autos are more rushed and there are notable differences. I believe this to be the case with Dick's signature. Who knows at the end of the day.

PSA/DNA also authenticated Charlton Heston's TTM secretarial signature for many years, believing it to be authentic. Now they are doing the same with Van Dyke.

There was a youtube video I posted in another thread where he takes his time drawing a sketch, this was not an "on the run" either. After he did the sketch he gave his usual messy signature. The Mikethefanboy seems like a one-on-one situation as well that he even got a great photo with Dick. Not a self blast or crowd shot where the celebrity looks away because so many people are calling their name. He got the messy signature. Dick even talked to him briefly.

I AM going to be getting in on the private signing. I may not be able to get all the items signed I would like (which would mean paying $89 dollars on top of the price of a solvent to erase the secretarial signatures) but I will be getting one autograph which will be a REAL autograph.

Again, Charlton Heston had been PSA authenticated even after it was revealed and proven his ttm were fake. He even had his secretary, Carol Lanning, sign his personal letters.

Saddest thing about Dick Van Dyke fakes is that it will probably be like Charlton Heston were he passes away and then it comes out they were fake. Fans no longer have that chance to try for a real one.

Jason, you hit the nail on the head. You are smart to get in on the private signing. I will be as well.

As for the book signing signatures which look nothing like the ttm, I attended Bob Newhart and Alan Alda signings several years ago during their book tours.

Bob made no small talk with fans, the signing was rushed but the signature in the books is the same beautiful signature fans receive ttm.

Alan Alda, who normally has a pretty poor reputation with fans, was great at his signing. There must have been 1000 people there and sure it was rushed but he signed with the same signature fans receive ttm when they send items. I've attended numerous book signings and I can't think of one person who's IP autograph I got that was even a little different from a ttm I may have received.

So to say "oh book signings are rushed signatures" means very little.

OK, they may be rushed but that shouldn't allow for major differences in signatures. And the differences between Dick's real one (whether it's book signings, one on one meets, sketch autographs, crowds) and the ttm is major.

Hopefully with that private signing the truth will come out. TTM is a "live and learn" experience. You learn from your beginning years who to avoid and Dick Van Dyke ttms are to be avoided.

Go for Bob Newhart or Ed Asner if you want some easily obtainable, real autographs!
