Mr. Kaline was not obligated to return anything to me. But the way he did it was the act of arrogance. He had every right to keep the money and return the card, or keep it as well. Just like I have every right to call him out for his arrogance and greed. It's as simple as that. I don't personally know the guy, and for all I know someone else is checking his mail. But the end result is all the same.

jbwesterfield - don't listen to some people or person. They thrive on creating arguments for their own deranged pleasure. What Mr. Kaline did was wrong - If a survey was taken I'm sure the overwhelming majority would agree that his behavior towrd you was unprofessional to say the least.

How much of a donation did you send him? I just recently sent to him with no issues but I didn't insult him with a lowball donation. He's a good signer as long as you don't try to low ball him...and typically if you do, he returns your money. The guy is also almost 80 years old so lucky he still checks his mail at all...but I doubt he's actually opening and sorting his mail so you may be pis s ed at the wrong person. I HIGHLY doubt he opened your envelope and said "I'm gonna take this guys money" and pocketed your cash...

Yeah, I didn't see how much money was sent. I know some people have sent $1 to a baseball star, making it seem like they're a BIIIIIIG spender.

BUT, on the other hand, some have sent $10 to Al Kaline and not gotten a success.

Kaline hasn't been the easiest signer. It's possible he feels taken advantage of over the years. He can command $30+ at conventions.

$10 will typically get your card signed by him...but he wants $40+ for a baseball. I was successful getting my card signed back in December in 9 days w/ $10 cash.

I sent $10. That is what others had sent successfully. If that makes him feel taken advantage of, then that's on him.

The purpose of my post was to inform others of this experience. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, $10 for a ttm is pretty fair on your part.

I mean he probably feels taken advantage of by the ones sending a dollar or two. They act like it's a big offer on their part but as the song suggests "you can't fool all the people all the time." Al knows better. Shouldn't even bother sending the dollar or two, just ask for a freebie.
